The stupid thing is a pound sign, so that's what I call it. I also read it to myself before the words all smashed together. It sucks all the hip value out of it. So patty's post read like this to me:
That's what I did for awhile as well >.>

@ MyTie - The reason they're a thing, is because on some sites when you write them like that it actually creates a link to another part of the site. People use them ironically on other sites, but there is a purpose to them existing other than to be "hip."
Also, you seem to be spoiling for a fight today. Did you not sleep well?

It's one of those things that show up and permeate everything, but since I choose not to care about their sources, I'm doomed to not understand them at all.

Really? I woke up a bit grumpy I suppose. I didn't even touch any of the debate threads yet. Maybe I can come up with something really chipper to share... let me think... what do I have in my bag o tricks that is chipper... hmmm... I'll get back to you.

They're used to tag things on twitter, where the 140 character limit can be quite limiting. A pound sign is £. :P

A pound sign is £. :P
Ah, yes. That's outside the US, which just complicates things further for me.In Commonwealth English, the symbol is usually called the hash and the corresponding telephone key is called the hash key. In American English, the symbol is usually called the pound sign (outside the US, this term often describes instead the British currency symbol "£") and the telephone key is called the pound key. In Canadian English, this key is most frequently called the pound key but also in some circumstances the number sign key.

Oh these Sansa fan vids are doing things to my emotions that I really can't deal with right now. #firstworldproblems
The stark girl? Well maybe your emotions are effected because she is prettier than you. Or maybe because that girl on your avatar doesn't get as much attention as her.
I'm so hurt.
Also, I didn't realise Emma Watson wasn't very famous. Sorry. My bad. Didn't realise HP was unknown.

She is famous only because of the Harry Potter series, and famous for all the HP fans wanting her from the beginning to @#$% Harry, but didn't happen.

Yeah.. before that, when she was like.... 6... what did she do? Did she cure cancer? NO! Did she serve her country in the military? NO! She is only famous because she is... what... 17... and has acted in like a dozen blockbuster movies. THAT'S IT.
(That was all sarcasm, by the way)

BTW- I know we were discussing that DC made that announcement about one of their superheroes coming out in some thread here. It was Green Lantern, if anyone wanted to know.
