There was this bill in Tennessee that would prohibit teachers in that state from using the word "Gay", or even discussing homosexuality in the classroom. So he created a new movement called

Not really something I want my schools being the educators of, either way... or any way... or anyhow. I don't want teachers or counselors explaining to my daughter that it is "okay" for her to be heterosexual, or homosexual, or any sexual. Not their place to teach that to her. That her mom and my job.

Don't you feel banning only homosexuality is taking it a bit to far?

No. What I'm saying is it isn't far enough.
Actually, I'm torn on the issue. I think that there is a place for sex education for kids. However, it isn't a place for moral education. I think topics can be STDs, contraception, and reproduction. However, sexual orientation, and what is "ok" and what "isn't ok", is no place for public education.

They want to ban the teachers from saying "gay", not ban homosexuality. It isn't as if they are banning the sexual orientation of the kids. I don't see why the kids need to say "gay" or "straight". I don't see why sexual orientation needs to be a part of sexual education.

Things get lost in translation and my english is not the best.
I could actually see some use for sexual education about sexuality, but that could be covered in 5 minutes.

Why is this needed? Why do kids need to understand that "gay" means a person attracted to someone of the same sex? What purpose does that serve? I mean, why do schools even need to go there?

Education, I'd rather see the school go there and the kids knowing what the words actually mean then that they are ignorant and use the words without knowing their meaning.
Knowledge is power, every bit will help the new generation become a smarter generation.

Could you explain? I mean, as a homosexual it is slightly offensive that
only
'gay' is not being allowed to be used. But that's not to say I want it used. I have to agree with MyTie on this one. Gay/straight/transgender/bisexual/lesbian/questioning/anything else doesn't need to be part of sex education. I went through sex education in school and none of the teachers used any of these terms.
They stuck to anatomy and facts and I still learned everything I needed to know.
In other news: How was everyones day?
