While I kind of get the whole Gay Pride thing, I just don't feel like sexuality is something you should have to be so overt about. :/ Hence why I'll probably never go to a pride event.

I have a hard time being proud of having the wrong body, personally. It seems like a tremendous negative. Just saying.
I don't think gender or sexuality is anything to be particularly proud of in the first place regardless of orientation or gender identity - it's not like it's much of an accomplishment, if you know what I mean.

It's more of a response to being made to feel ashamed and hide your sexuality by proudly standing by it. It was bad back in 1969, but even today children are raised in that environment. But if we can get people to be proud of their sexuality, then that can never be used against them.

I know why it was established, but I also kind of hate the way that it can reinforce so many negative stereotypes. You know? I personally find it degrading when I see gay men walking around in denim hot pants. Not all of us are like that. >_< And I know that's only a side effect of pride, but it's something that really pisses me off. Along with elitism and labelling within the LGBT community, but that's another issue entirely.

Well since it exists within the straight community, why shouldn't the LGBT share that lol?

Because when LGBT's complaining about being labelled and looked down upon whilst doing the exact same thing among themselves, it's not quite consistent or well thought out.

By the way Patty, apparently you and I believe that 9/11 is a massive conspiracy - credible sources told me most europeans do!
