I edited that comment out cause I realized it was a little snarky. And you receive the hostility cause there are threads for that type of discussion that work better then our madness inducing Bin.

Religious discussions almost inevitably devolve into nitpicking and flaming. The discussions are cyclic and bring a pervasive mood of conflict and hostility. Bringing that into the Bin, where users mainly just chill and post random @#$% and have a bit of a laugh isn't really the best move. Especially when the Bin is used as a respite against all of the debate threads.

I feel that Adamsm is being less concerned with the continuity of the forums, and more just being hostile toward religion in general.

The religious discussion here is less hostile than the discussion about the religious discussion.
Edit: Quite a bit so. We are really being very civil. I don't buy this "inevitable spiral of hate" that you are selling. I've had more civil discussions involving religion than uncivil.

/roll eyes So what's next, are you gonna declare me an Atheist? Or start the 'burn the witch' chants as I'm a follower of Wicca?

Most religious discussions start off amiably enough. The point is, not everyone who posts in the bin
wants
to read about religion. People who want to talk about religion or read about it can do so easily enough without upsetting anyone outside of the debate by posting in one of the many existing religion threads.

About 5 thousand pages ago, I tried to tell people not to discuss something in the RB. I got told off real quick. I've since let the RB be whatever people want to discuss. I really don't feel that the RB belongs to you, nor anyone. If I want to discuss religion in it, then why is that an issue? I don't understand.

It was in that thread, but then hatman deleted it and the database decided to impersonate a desktop PC by throwing it here, into the Recycle Bin.
Lies and slander! Recycle bin has a mind of its own!

1) The subject of religion on this forum is essentially beating on an undead horse. It's been done and re-done several times. Most people don't want to give themselves concussion or any major head trauma by continuing to bang their head against a brick wall.
2) It's an emotive issue, most people have an opinion on religion and most of them clash with others. It's hardly a jovial topic for a primarily light-hearted area in terms of discussion.
3) I'll re-iterate:
There are already areas where religion can be discussed for those who want to talk about it.
The atmosphere of a debate isn't really conducive to the whole feel of what the RB is generally like. Why so serious?
Edit:
The point is, not everyone who posts in the bin
wants
to read about religion.
Not everyone wants to read about stripper toys for children either, that's just the gamble you take when you enter a thread with no rules about what's on-topic and what isn't.
I apologise. If you'd like to point me to a thread discussing children's stripper toys, I'll gladly discuss it there.

Maybe I should make a thread about children's stripper toys....

That's true. It's sad, I think, that the RB doesn't have more serious discussion in it. I like the point you make. So, now, I'm going to have to ask you all to find somewhere else to discuss stuff that I don't find serious enough. If we can't all agree, then you should take your jovial discussion elsewhere, where it belongs.

Why does it matter to you all if religion is discussed in RB. It won't last very long. The discussion wasn't unamicable. If you don't like it, why not just ignore it? For the most part, RB is how you all want it, debate free. If a few people want to use it, out of convienience to discuss something serious, that isn't against the rules.

This is the Recycle bin, we should only talk about Plastics, Metals, and Paper products that can be reused to make other low cost environmentally safe goods!
