You're surprised? This game from the same guy that wrote
Halo: The Flood
, one of the crappiest Halo books ever.

Well, the book "Mass Effect: Deception" has been released........... and so its my duty to tell every wowheader who (like myself) are diehard Mass Effect fans, to NOT get it or read it. Its a piece of crap.
Bioware hired a different author for this book than the other 3 (Revelation, Ascension, and Retribution) And this new author is a COMPLETE IDIOT. (William C. Dietz)
Its very obvious that this guy has never actually played Mass Effect, or read the codex, or even glanced the articles on the Mass Effect wikia, as his horrible blasphemy of a book contains numerous plot holes, retcons galore, inconsistencies (a character that was very specifically described as gay on the Ascension book, suddenly is flirting with women on Deception) and a blatant disregard for the comics, the other books, and the games itself.
There's already a
300+ page thread
about this on Bioware's official forums, and now our hope is that they at least make this book non-canonical, as its simply horrible.
This
article shows up most of the errors in the novel if you're feeling curious.
(Warning, contains spoilers)
Edit2: Well I'll be damned :P some fans are so upset by this travesty of a book that completely tramples canon lore of Mass Effect that they are
BURNING THEIR COPIES
of the book.
seriously, this has got to be one of the worst written books ever. And this is said by someone who's already read (and barely survived) Twilight.
Holy wow. That's a lot of....responses...

fixed that for you. I asume you meant "book" instead of "Game" because while deception is a HORRIBLY WRITTEN PIECE OF CRAP, Mass Effect is quite likely the best written video-game I've ever played, it even displaced the Metal Gear Solid saga as my favorite video-game series ever.
To the rest, you're welcome. Seriously, Bioware better make that book not canon, otherwise, the canon of Mass Effect will have a cancerous tumor on it.
For context, imagine if Blizzard hired a new author to write a new novel for warcraft, and this author includes gems such as:
A: A forsaken Embassy on Stormwind.
B: Said book taking place barely a year after cataclysm, but then blatantly stating that Varian and Thrall are both over 70 years old.
C: Night-Elves suddenly being able to breathe underwater without the need of magic because the naga can, and naga evolved from night-elves.
and D: Without any explanation whatsoever, Blackmoore is alive, its part of Stormwind's noble houses, and nobody treats him being alive as something odd, but rather as the most normal thing in the world.
If such a book were to be published, it would severely harm the canon of Warcraft, by adding several contradicitons to characters and lore, and the only course of action by blizz would be either: Do nothing (and thus anger its fans) or Disavow it and render it non-canon.

Actually, I mean to write: "This came from the same guy" not "this game from the same guy"

ya but that one book-that-shall-not-be-named contained a fairly trivial event that can be easily glossed over.
It was a badly written book, but contained no blatant lore contradictions, retcons, or plain dumb lack of research.
When it comes to book reviewing, there are some aspects that are subjective (Such as the writer's style, the overall enjoyment of the plot, the depth of the characters ect) and others that are objective (its adherence to the source material, its respect for the canon lore, ect)
the one book-that-shall-not-be-named was at least correct on the objective parts, since it did portrayed its events respecting the laws of lore-canon.
Deception takes all (or almost all) the established lore of Mass Effect, and takes a massive dump on it, before flushing it down a toilet.
Blatant mistakes such as a batarian embassy on the citadel (Despite canon lore stating that Batarians closed their embassy almost a decade before Mass Effect 1 and HATE the council), Nick and Gillian aging 3 years in the lapse of 6 months (they were both 15 on the book Revelation, and Deception takes place 6 months later, and yet both are magically 18), a character that was gay is suddenly straight, 3 characters that died on Ascension, are suddenly and inexplicably alive in Deception, and the list just goes on and on and on.

Just finished Atlas Shrugged Part 1 (movie). Rand is in line with my political views, as usual.

I don't think her society could work

. I've asked this question in other threads, but can you imagine Dagny Taggart looking after a child with Down's syndrome?
Oh and I've lost my authenticator... The timing is actually perfect since I won't be home all day, but I hope I find it by Friday since I'll be switching to another network and it may require re-authentication.
Edit:
how can I say no?
Well his primary job is that of a linguistics professor. He's also not the most gratuitously atheistic professor in the world. He called Harris and Hitchens "
fanatics
" and was awarded a prize by a Christian group in Haiti. They had a wonderful line about how the group debated among themselves as to whether he was a Christian and came to the conclusion that he
must
be. Sort of like how Bertrand Russell said that the thing most lacking in the world was "Christian love".

Watching a plastic surgery show cause I'm a sadist or something. I'm so close to throwing up.
I love how explicit those shows tend to be for some reason. Not that I would be into the explicity itself, I just find it quite odd how plastic surgery shows are basically shows that show you explicit scenes where people's bodies are being cut up and handled like meat, and they aren't even airing in like, kid-unfriendly hours. Why the hell?

Ok. The author of that article does not understand Rand's work, made evident by their insistance that Rand equated
wealthy
with
productive
. Rand's work is choked full of wealthy unproductive people, and poor productive people. Consider how wealthy and unproductive Dagney's brother is. Consider how productive and poor that guy making hamburgers is (for this you have to read the book, as it doesn't mention the quality of the hamburgers in the film).
Secondly, the author takes to task the following that Rand wrote about a heinous murderer:Other people do not exist for him, and he does not see why they should. . . . no regard whatsoever for all that society holds sacred, and with a consciousness all his own. He has the true, innate psychology of a Superman. He can never realize and feel ‘other people.I have to say I COMPLETELY understand what Rand is talking about. She is explaining how the killer views other humans as some sort of other entity, and disregards society's sacredness. She goes on to explain how the killer has the psychology of a Superman, because he cannot realize and feel other people. She is explaining the lack of empathy Superman has for regular people because he doesn't feel he is one of them. She isn't regarding the killer as a super hero, but as some sort of being that feels itself impervious to the pain that other experience, and is therefore lacking in any amount of empathy. All of that is true. The writer of the article didn't understand what she was talking about, and doesn't understand her novels, and is admittedly biased. I also don't get what any of that had to do with eugenics. The rest is flailing emotional attacks at various politicial figures. The author even paints John Boehner as some sort of child hater for killing the DREAM act, which was just a tool to pander to illegal immigrants. The whole article is rotten, out of context, and seems to trip over itself in its failures to understand the concepts it is criticizing.
