Spider Jerusalem is one of the coolest characters ever.
Remember that IGN top 100 heroes review thing? I thought it was going really well until the obvious 'classic is best' bias set in at the very end and Superman won. I was happy to see Jerusalem near the top, but honestly, how is Superman better than Dream of the Endless, or Rorschach, or Spider, or pretty much any other super-or-non-super hero in the entire comic book universe? Bleh.
Well, Superman
has
had a couple of decades, a series of 200+ episodes, multiple movies, computer games and (pulling numbers out of my ass here) hundreds of comics. If anything, I think IGN picked Superman because there are few superheroes we know better. I would have gone with Rorschach, myself, but it's a stretch to think IGN would
^^
For me, it would be a tough call between Spider Jerusalem,
V
and Rorschach. What these three had in common is that they all had this giant metaphorical mirror that they pointed at the society to show it how corrupted it is. They all carry an idea, and deep down a wish for a better world. In addition, they were all extremely badass.

(BTW, the level of obsession some people have is truly sickening. On the official MoP trailer on youtube there's this user "IRONSKILLZ" who's been there, EVERY DAY, for the past 4 months, ranting against MoP and trashing everyone who says anything possitive about the game. Jesuschrist, for 4 frikking months. If that's not creepy stalker obsession I dunno what that is)
Almost as creepy as going there every day for four months to check if he's still posting....I'm JK :P
It reminds me of my blurb on people who facebook stalk their ex's = people who put that much effort into continually trashing a game they no longer play.

Ah, I wasn't in Sydney for most of that period anyway, so I couldn't have met up even if we wanted to.

Hey I am back after giving up on sleep.... Back on topic of the Merivale Bridge, I came up with a bridge design like it a few years back, only mine was wider and had a middle support. Is there anyone else here that likes engineering , or architecture?
I am into architecture, but not really modern architecture. By the way heh, we have a similar bridge design here in
Bratislava
.

I always seem to miss your posts the first time around... I quite enjoy me some architecture.
BTW Thror, that bridge in Bratislava looks awesome. You guys really do have some cool architecture over there.

The Merivale Bridge is a double track railway bridge crossing the Brisbane River. It crosses the Milton Reach of the river, slightly to the west of the William Jolly Bridge. Exclusively a railway crossing, it is located between the stations of South Brisbane and Roma Street, linking the northern and southern elements of the Citytrain system. The Merivale Bridge is the only inner-city rail crossing in Brisbane. By 2016 it is expected to be over capacity, leading the Queensland Government to plan for the Cross River Rail project.
The Merivale Bridge opened on 18 November 1978 by Queensland Premier Joh Bjelke-Petersen. At the opening, the then Premier, described the occasion as "the start of the second stage in the history of Queensland Railways".
It formed a more direct route into the city for Brisbane's southern system suburban trains than the existing route via Corinda. It also carries the standard gauge passenger trains from New South Wales. It was designed by Cameron McNamara Pty Ltd (consulting engineers) and was fabricated and erected by Transfield (Qld) Pty Ltd.
The bridge has been recognised with a number of awards. In 1980 it was named the most outstanding engineering project from the Association of Consulting Engineers of Australia. Judges appreciated the combination of aesthetics and functionality. It also won the 1979 Steel Award.but I see that becoming " i think this is pretty"It would

>.> I haven't gone there every day to check if he's still posting, I check the video once in a while (since I absolutely LOVE the music used there and in the trailers for the 3 dungeons, "Temple of the Jade Serpent" "Stormsout Brewery" and "Shodo-pan Monastery". Its so soothing and relaxing I just love it)
so yeah, ocationaly like, once per week I tend to check the vids, and every single time I do, there he is, ranting against MoP and trashing anyone who dares to commit the unspeakable crime of (*GASP*) actually saying something nice about MoP.

I suppose you could find a few nice things, but they are scarce. There are quite a few really nice pictures of that bridge by the way, check these:
1,
2,
3.
What I find really puzzling is that we have really modern looking things like that bridge and
this
in here, yet up close, I do not find them very impressive at all. I will always be more fond of the
old national theater
for instance.

You wanna see a modern building that looks horrible up close? Try the Sydney Opera House or Sydney Tower. The modern stuff in Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast looks fantastic though. Especially Federation Square in Melbourne... /drool
