HA-HA-HA-HA-HA =D oh man this is hillarious xD
Its amazing how everyone uses the same excuse (word for word) when the MMO they used to play is no longer entertaining them.
Just watched about 3 or 4 trailers of the next expansion of Lineage II (Goddess of Destruction) and 9 out of 10 comments are along the lines of "They are cattering to kids now, this game is ruined" "This is a joke right?" "R.I.P L2" "Nothing will be better than c1" (This is the equivalent of saying "Vanilla wow was the best" because in lineage II, the vanilla game was called "Chronicle 1") "This isn't Lineage 2 anymore" and of course "Only an immature 12 year old will play this now"
verbatim word-for-word of the SAME comments I see on the MoP trailer xD
even when GoD and MoP are VASTLY different, people still say the same crap just because they don't like the changes. So if you dislike something, then by rule-of-thumb that something is childish, the vanilla was better, only 12 year olds will play it now, it must be some sort of a joke, and the game is dead.
=D
this really made my day xD

It's even more entertaining then the *****ing is about a game that isn't even out yet :)

I just find it absolutely hilarious that when asked why they dislike a game they always resort to the same lame excuses WORD-FOR-WORD regardless of what the game is.
I bet if I checked trailers for other long-time MMO's that have undergone changes recently, I'd find the exact same comments word-for-word.
I mean, when I left Lineage II I wasn't all "this game is dead" "vanilla was better" "This game is childish" "this is for 12 year olds now" or all that crap. I left because the game was too grindy, and I didn't had enough time to sink on it, (and it DEMANDED that you sank huge amounts of time on it)

Some
footage of the new zones in Lineage II.
Dammit, even though NCSoft SUCKED for years at actually balancing their game, nobody can deny it, they got the most BADASS ART DESIGN TEAM IN THE WORLD.
Their designs for
weapons
,
armors,
characters
,
scenarios
, and
enemies
is simply top-notch. Even on that old obsolete graphical engine that Lineage II runs in (Unreal engine LOLOLOL) they still manage to pull off more impressive vistas than many zones in wow put together.
That video right there is proof of that.
(BTW that armor on the picture? yeah, its THE SAME ARMOR on different races and genders :P)
I really shudder to think what would happen if the art design team of NCSoft joined the game-development team of Blizzard for the ULTIMATE RPG OF ALL TIMES!

I got to level 18 and I've just dumped all those points I get into maxing the 5 skills it gave me at the beginning of the game, and I still have like 47000 available to spend still. Am I doing something wrong?

u talking about Lineage II? IO_O you downloaded it already? DAMN, that is some FAST internet speed you got there jubi, its gonna take me at least a week to get it (and that's after I get my PC first)
as for the SP (Skill points) believe me, later on you will need them. In lineage II you start as a nobody, and you must do a series of quests to change your class in order to evolve. Once you do that, you gotta get those new skills, and THEN you spend those points.
At lvl 75-ish each skill can cost up to 2 million SP :P so yeah, later on you will need those.

Is there respecing in the game. The points I put into bow and dagger skills were just because I had so many extra points, but they will be useless later on I guess.

About the respecing, nope there is none, but don't sweat it, at lvl 75 having 1000 SP less isn't gonna be noticeable, plus, that's the best part of this new expansion, it took all the other classes in the game and dumped them in the garbage bin.
Lineage II had well over 34 classes,
34!
That's way too many classes, it was impossible to make each feel unique, they all ended up being copies of each other.
Now in goddess of Destruction, after you get to 85, you do something called "Awakening" in which your class, is pretty much destroyed.
gone, bye-bye, adios, sayonara, dasvidanya.
You lose all your skills permanently, and in turn gain new skills, new stats, new mechanics, and now truly ARE unique.
because all classes in lineage II filled a certain archetype, now those archetypes are the new classes.
As such, if you were a Phoenix Knight, Hell Knight, Eva's Templar, or Shilen Templar, (These were all tanks) at 85 that's gone, and you become a new class called Sigel Knight that is a mix of all the others.
People who were Duelists, Dreadnoughts, Titans (Like me, this was my class) Kavatharis, and Doombringers, (these were all DPS on heavy armor and light armor) become Tyrr Warriors, which is a mix of all the others.
And so on. So those dagger/bow skills that you don't use that much? yeah, later on after 85 you're gonna lose them anyways, and all the SP spent on all those older obsolete skills is refunded so you can buy the NEW skills of the NEW classes.
Edit: and don't think 500.000 gold is a lot of money because it aint xD, Lineage II has a different economy than wow. The reason that wow manages little amounts of gold is because 1 gold is actually 1000 copper.
someone with 1000 gold coins is actually carrying 1.000.000 copper.
Lineage II doesn't have this division, so at lvl 79-ish you can normally see stuff costing tens of millions. In fact on my peak days WAY BACK when I used to play Lineage II so many years ago, I had 500 million gold, and wasn't anywere near the cap. (The cap is 4.5 billion xD)

used to be, at least at the time I retired it was 81 I think.
today its 99.
at 85 is when you ditch your former class and play one of the new celestial classes. (which are a mix of the mess the regular classes were)

nah, because as I said, 500.000 is actually very little money in the game. Consider that the cap is 4.5 billion, and that I at the apex of my time in there so many years ago had 500 million and still wasn't able to buy everything I liked (An A-grade weapon could cost up to 300 million) its not really that much money.

That's the point. 500,000 is the money you get just questing from 1-18 in two hours, so it's nothing at all. So the game has a very high gold acceleration, which is exactly what makes 500,000 gold not worth as much as 500,000 gold in other games.

true :P heh, there's a (rather crappy) MMO VERY popular in south america called "MU online" that works like that, the cost in gold of items can dip into the thousands of millions already, and if I'm not mistaken, the cap of gold there is actually a trillion.
Can't say I like that too much, I like wow's lower more manageable numbers. I got 5k gold on my main, and its easier to manage than having to haggle with a price of 500 million.
