Psh, it's too hot to even model a scarf made from bulky weight wool.
Then why don't you knit... shorts.
Or a tampon.
Out of Cherokee hair.
I meant for you, grandma.

Lol my guild master is writing a blog.
The Life and Times of Starcaller Slore
Written by: Patrick 4-22-11 Vol. 1
I was never into blogging. I've been an internet junkie since I first got my hands on it. AOL chat rooms, fan fiction message boards, late night mIRC with the Australians and pretty much anything else you would normally hide from your "cool" friends. I had a livejournal once, but after a couple weeks I went back and read what I wrote; it just seemed so pompous that I immediately deleted it. I also wrote music reviews for a radio station in Albuquerque (true story), but it lost its fun after a while. I guess I always thought I wasn't important enough to need to share my thoughts, troubles, and ideas with the rest of the world and especially to expect some kind of feedback. When Dave (our site admin) suggested this I was a bit hesitant thinking that our small guild had no business trying to make a name for itself or cracking open its guts in order for all to see. It just didn't feel like Reminence to me.
I've decided to write and update this blog for two reasons: 1. I think it will help my guildies understand a little bit better of where I am coming from with the decisions I make, why the guild is the way it is, and how its identity has grown into something that is rather unique. 2. I wear many hats, many many hats, as a player and also in real life. I guess my second goal will be to demonstrate to the people outside that read this is that you can live a healthy and successful professional and social life, while maintaining your online environment. Peer mentoring has always been something I've enjoyed and if one basement dweller can get out of his shell and lead a better life cause of something he read here it would be worth it. I like how I already contradicted myself in being a pompous ass and thinking my stupid blog about raiding is going to help someone. Oh well, I guess it's just something we will have to work through.
Next problem is what to write about…
I could write about being a GM; the struggle of guild management, player relations, server relations, which directions to take, officer interactions, loot quarrels, organization, how to keep up morale or maybe how to foster your guilds identity.
I could write about being a raid leader; managing your raiders stress, knowing when to push and when not to, knowing what your team is capable of and pulling them back without crushing their spirits, dealing with absences, settling fights, keeping the raid on task, the glory of downing heroic content and the frustration of taking a whole night with no progress.
I could write about being a full time student, a teacher, a GM, a raid leader and still finding time to go to the bars, talk to the girls, work on side projects, stay fit, and trying like hell to get my PhD. My other true loves like running, music, and how I integrate them into this schedule
Maybe I could write about what this game means to me, what I do when I am not swamped with work and GM and raid stuff, why I choose this roll and what I get out of it.
In the end I think I will try to write about all of it and maybe with your feedback we can see what my guild and maybe other people want to hear about. I've decided to name this blog "The Life and Times of Starcaller Slore". In honor of my rogue, my favorite encounter Algalon and the title of the post I made the only time I ever tried to quit this game (and failed).
Disclaimer – I'll never say that anything I do or have done is the right way to do things. This is just what has worked for me in my guild and my life. At times I will probably sound selfish, self-absorbed, pompous, weird or you might just choose to not believe any of it. Fact of the matter is, if you don't like what I have to say, don't read it.
My name is Patrick / Slore / Lawlwut. Im a PhD student, a Guild Master, a Teacher, a Researcher, A raid leader, a friend, a runner, a paladin, a nerd, an emo kid, a cactus owner, a crazed skirt chaser, and a boozehound. I'm 26 and this is my Blog about WoW, my life and all of you. Welcome to the Life and Times of Starcaller Slore.
