You think Brittney Spears is good. If that's what good pop is, then pop isn't very good.
Well, it isn't as good as classical, of course, but that doesn't mean that it's not good.

You do realize that being smart/stupid has nothing to do with music, right?
Actually, it does. Keep reading that post until you know exactly what I mean. I'm not in the mood to explain even deeper because I think I've had one drink too much -.-'
Savant has nothing to do with it except make for exceptions (and what's a rule without at least one exception?)
You can understand and appreciate the emotion and complexity of pop, you probably haven't listened to good pop if you think otherwise.
Agreed, but complexity/creativity is rare in pop nowadays.

On another note, thank you Laihendi for showing me that mew glitch.

Hey, I listen to Folk Metal. The basic principle of that is
grab some instuments
study a bit of history (+ on studying that, - on creativity)
drink
allot
have fun!
Most of those bands aren't what I'd call complex or anything, but I think it's fun to listen too.
I also listen to Goregrind. Now that's just complete and utter garbage. Anyone that thinks differently should be shot. But it's just so absurd it brings a smile on my face (kinda like Spongebob), and I like fast and aggressive =)

Personally I think classical sucks and is nothing more than boring instruments and no real lyrics.Coincidentally you also enjoy listening to Rihanna and Britney Spears. :-/
And one thing about good classical music is that it doesn't need lyrics to express emotion.

Also, yes. I do like Rihanna, she has amazing and meaningful lyrics with fun and great music to match.
You like Rihanna? I never would have guessed. Thanks for this valuable information.

Only thing I've found good about classical is it helps me fall asleep. How can you tell emotion from just instruments? Are trumpets symbolizing sadness, is a sousaphone happiness? ElaborateThis is what Laihendi means by simple minded people.

Both Laihendi and Vikey are wrong.
Vikey: The emotion doesn't come from the instrument. A piano, for example, can be sad, angry, and happy. Also, you may not like classical music, but you have to admit it's well done.
Laihendi: Did you always understand Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture? Instead of calling people names, maybe you could, you know, explain, so that said adjectives no longer fit.

Laihendi listened to pop up until he was about your age. Then he started listening to film soundtracks which interested him... then listening to his sister's ballet cd's became a guilty pleasure. Then he started further expanding his interests in music and discovered the wonderful worlds of Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Mozart, Shostakovich, Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Dvorak, and many others.
It's not a matter of being open minded enough to appreciate good music. Laihendi recognizes the musical value of lots of jazz, blues, and even some rock, and although he may not particularly care for it, he still understands that it is good music.
What Laihendi is doing right now isn't being too close minded to enjoy different genres of music, because it was by being open minded enough to experiment with classical music (when no one else in his family likes it) that led him to have the taste in music he has today. What Laihendi is doing right now is distinguishing
good
music from
bad
music.
It seems this reply came a bit late :-/

You haven't exactly debunked anything yet, but if you could explain what it is exactly that Britney Spears did again, and why she even did it in the first place, it would be very much appreciated.

She became a famous pop singer that is smart and talented but recognized as a dumb %^&*! by mainstream. She also became famous because she loves to sing, dance, and write.
Also, I did debunk your theory of all pop being just pointless and stupid.
That is ofc, unless you think real babies, relationships, and etc. is pointless and meaningless.
That didn't answer the question at all.
