So... to sum up, AIDS is no big deal, and the only reason people think it is a big deal is because of the religious zealots?
I think AIDS is a big deal. I don't think it is a retribution, but it certainly is a cause for concern. I mean, I don't think it is cause of 'panic'. People needn't riot in the streets, but I don't think you should downplay AIDS. I mean, dude, come on, it's AIDS.
/shrug And you can do the same for diabetes, cancer, and any other long term disease.
Would you stick your finger into a charged light socket? Of course not. Electrocution is a big deal. The fact that we have CPR nowadays that can help revive you, and thus lessen your chances of death is probably not a deterrant to you. The fact that you could be struck by a meteor at any moment and die is also not a reason to self electrocute, at least, not for a sensible person. The facts that HIV/AIDS medication exist (CPR), or that cancer exists (the meteor), do nothing to detract from the significance of HIV/AIDS.
Through all of this, I have to wonder WHY. Why try to marginalize such a horrible disease (as you said "/shrug")? If it is an effort to make the people with the disease more acceptible to society, why not just argue that point? Why not just say the people should be accepted, instead of making the disease itself acceptible? Can't you see how silly it sounds to argue toward the marginalization of HIV/AIDS?
Argueing that AIDS is no big deal is just as unacceptible as argueing that AIDS is a heavenly retribution for gay people.

Random fact of the day:
Did you know that the North American Grizzly bear weighs in at around 800 lbs, stands at about 8 ft, and can run up to 40 mph?
This creature is quite literally a beast.

Heh.
So I finished "The Crossroads of Twilight"...
I swear that was one of the most boring books I've ever read. I never liked Perrin's story... Hopefully Knife of Dreams is better.

Yup. They can pace a thoroughbred racehorse for short distances. Also, they have a sense of smell stronger than a bloodhound's- able to smell food from ~18 miles away.
Have fun trying to sleep tonight. :D

Lame. TVTropes just randomly stopped working for me.
E: Probably maintenance. It just wouldn't load for my Firefox, but IE tells me it's probably maintenance.

Then I was like... ah...

HiVolt, YouTube links are fine in Off-Topic as long as it's not just random meme links tossed around, some videos can/should support continued on-topic replies.

Good to know. Still, though, what should I classify those deemed inappropriate as? Not that it matters, I guess, since you all receive the notice of a report... I guess I just like to be thorough.

Other moderators may still feel different. IMHO there are 20 topics with activity in them today in Off-Topic, I think there is some room to let things out of RB :)

Doesn't really matter, it all looks the same in the end, just continue to enter your rationale for the report :)(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Gryphon##DELIM##

There doesn't seem to be a consensus on what one would call a person from Quebec. In that thread, I've seen Quebecers, Quebecois, and Quebecians. I'm guessing, since there's no error mark on the second one as I'm typing this, that it's the correct form.
That's because of the party known as the Bloc Quebecois.
