20 years ago, the world went insane; the weather, the magic of the world, the people, everything changed in a month. The Destroyer, the Beast, the Corrupted One returned, and He ripped Azeroth asunder; thousands died due to His destructive emergence. The World screamed in pain and agony, and many of our greatest defenders, among the druids and the shamans, fell to madness, withdrawing from the world.
After a time to recover from the Cataclysm, the Horde and the Alliance attempted to fight back, but due to infighting and inter faction fighting, many of the grand battles fell through. Finally, in a fool hardy attempt, the Warsong Offensive, lead by Warchief Garrosh Hellscream, and the Alliance Assault, led by King Varian Wrynn, invaded Deepholme, trying to crush the head of the Serpent..... and failed miserably. Deathwing enjoyed parading the corpses of the two leaders, leaving them spiked to the entrances of their respective cities.
Following Wyrnn's death, the city of Stormwind fell to an attack by the Black flight, the Hammer and the reborn Defias, as Van Cleef had been found still alive, and willingly to throw in with the invaders. Prince Anduin, now King, escaped the city with the help of his father's friend, Valeera Sanguinar and his own friend, the young Guardian Med'an. The three fled the city by sea, heading for a safe port in Theramore, and hopefully from there travel to Hyjal to meet up with Archdruid Malfurion and the true Warchief Thrall.
The Horde didn't do much better; following the death of Garrosh, the Dark Horde, which had been bidding their time for a long while, joined with Nefarion and his Twilights to invade and take the capital city of Orgrimmar for themselves. The great city, cut off by Garrosh's own idiocy, fell to the forces of the Dark, and the continent of Kalimdor became darker. After they took Durotar, the Dark Horde headed south, and laid siege to Theramore, finally destroying it once the new king, his friends, and the Lady of the city gave it up.
By the end of the first year, Thunder Bluff was under constant siege and attack from the Dark Horde and the Dragonflights, finally falling as the Grimtotems, promised their hearts desires, turned on the other Horde members, and handed over Cairne Bloodhoof to be killed. It was a sad day for Horde of Kalimdor, as the bastion of freedom was destroyed.
The Alliance forces on Kalimdor, forced to fight an enemy on three fronts; those of the Warsong in Ashenvale who hadn't given up, the army of the Fire Lord in Hyjal, attempting to destroy the World tree, and the Black flights attacking wherever they could. The Draenei are isolated, forced to activate a shield device to keep their home safe, and only able to teleport to other locations to assist and fight back. The Night Elves, doing the best they could for the refugees of Stormwind and Theramore, are holding on, forced to rely on the new Night Elf magi of the Shen'dalar to get around and help fight the dark forces.
The first sign of the end was at Hyjal; the defenders were pushed back to the regrowing World Tree, and slowly but surely overwhelmed. In one last desperate move, Malfurion had Jaina Proudmoore mass teleport the defenders from the Tree, including his wife, and looked the Fire Lord in the face, and blew all of Hyjal to kingdom come..... and his final sacrifice failed, as the Firelord returned a few days later, and transformed the crater at Hyjal into an entrance to the Fire lands.
The Eastern Kingdoms weren't much better, the Undercity given up by the Dark Lady, when, offered a chance to keep her people alive and well, took it, turning on her orcish, troll and Tauren allies, killing those in the city and destroying the outpost that Garrosh had made in Trisfal. The Blood Elves destroyed the translocator orb in their city, and worked feverishly to shield their lands, forced to work with the Amani Trolls to fight back against the invading Forsaken and Dragonflights.
Ironforge is a bastion, a place where many are hiding out, the dwarves working to keep their allies alive and well. The Gnomish city of Gnomergon, reclaimed just before the Cataclysm, is also used as a staging point to fight back against the forces of Deathwing in Deepholme. Most of the northren settlements, Khaz Modan and the like, were absorbed into the Twilight Highlands, and are now the property of Twilight Hammer cult, which has also overthrown Silithus and are rebuilding the Temple of Ahn'Quarj.
But there is hope for the Alliance forces within the Eastern Kingdoms: Gilneas, Stromguarde and Durnholde, all rebuilt and working together, fight against the Forsaken and other enemies.
As for the North, tragedy has happened often; the floating city of Dalaran was destroyed by a combined assault of the Black and Twilight flights, the protector of the city, Rhonin the Red-haired, dying after teleporting the entire population out of the city as it fell. Wyrmrest Temple, once a bastion of safety, was crushed by Deathwing and his forces, forcing the Queen of Life, her consort and others to flee to the Nexus, now under control of Tyrigosa and Kalegocs, where they try to fight back against the Black Flight forces, and the remains of the Scourge, which are controlled by the Dreadlords still on Azeroth.
Many years have passed, those who are still leaders of their respective groups have been fighting back, trying to reclaim their world from the darkness and the shadow, this is an Azeroth where many evil and violent things have happened. But the world is not without it's protectors, as a new breed of heroes have been born and fighting back.

Prologue

This is fun!
General:
-Icecrown Citadel is now open to all who dare to enter! To break from the usual trend for tier gear, tier 10 will be introduced. However, to keep with the trend that only 3 sets of tier gear are wearable per expansion, tier 10 will have a level 85 requirement to wear.
-Boss Preview: Kael’thas will be making yet another incredible return. This time, he has been resurrected by the Lich King to serve his bidding. And yes, he will say that Magisters’ Terrace was a setback.
-Chill of the Throne has been removed due to complaints about us failing on tank avoidance. To compensate this, all bosses have had their physical damage increased by 200%, and will ignore mitigation.
-There is a 5-man, 10-man, and 25-man mode for Icecrown Citadel, god knows how one will survive 5-man, but oh well.
-More druid art: This time for all the remaining druid forms we have missed in the previous patch. However, the paint for these druid forms has become expensive, therefore all druids have had 1000 gold removed from their pockets.
PvP:
-A new 10v10 bracket has been added to arenas! It will feature a capture-the-flag match.
-A new battleground has been added. It is called Eye of the Alterac Gulch Basin of Ancient Conquest. This will feature the dynamic new 200-man raid system.
-The honor cap has been increased to 250,000.
-Everything that was buyable with honor can now only be bought with arena points.
Wintergrasp
-Honor received from objectives has been reduced by 50%. Stone Keeper’s Shards will be awarded when an objective is met.
Dungeons and Raids:
-All bosses in Naxxramas and the Obsidian Sanctum have been made significantly harder to challenge entry-level players a bit more. For example, Sartharian’s Flame Tsunamis have become more unforgiving, dealing approximately 150% more damage than before.
-New Conquest and Triumphant modes added to 5-man instances!
-These new modes will drop Conquest and Triumph emblems (respectively), but will be significantly more difficult. Conquest bosses will obviously challenge those with Ulduar-level gear, and Triumphant bosses will challenge players who have had much success in the Trial of the Crusader.
-New Emblem: To break away from the theme of calling the tokens that have dropped so far things of glory and lawfulness, we have opted to name our new token the Emblem of Dissent.
-All Ulduar bosses have been buffed to their original 3.1.0 strength, but the bugs remain removed.
-All titles received from World Firsts in PvE have been removed, but remain Feats of Strength. This is because we felt too many people flexed their e-peen at exploiting their way through bosses. Instead, there are now titles for loyally defeating bosses many times. Receiving 1000 and 10000 Emblems will note your worthiness.

Oh oh, me next!
((Last one of this series, I’ll be starting another one with these same characters in a little while. I don’t know what it will be called yet, but you can probably tell which one it is.))
-Khaz knelt in the remains of the shack next to prisoners of other races. Outside he could hear the sounds of battle, and the chapel burning. “The Chapel of Crimson Flame,” he said softly, “is burning. How ironic.” The human next to him, wearing an Argent Dawn tabard, chuckled, but quickly stopped, tears forming in her eyes again.
-Khaz looked over at her. “What’s your name?” he asked. The prisoner looked back at him. “Ellen. Ellen Stanbridge. And you?” she said softly. “I am Khaz Orebeard. As you can probably tell I am not of the Argent Dawn.” Ellen chuckled. “Yes, I can see that. Why are you here?”
-“It’s a sad story actually,” said Khaz. Ellen raised an eyebrow. “I’ve got the rest of my life. Do tell.” Khaz chuckled and nodded. “Very well.” And he told his story, about the battle at Northgate Pass and the trip underground, to the separation and the death of Khorin. Ellen sighed and said, “That is sad… I hope your friend finds peace in the Light.” Khaz chuckled, “He was a priest, I’m sure he will.”
-They sat the last few moments together when he heard something outside, somebody speaking. With a chill he heard the echoing voice of a Death Knight. “We got here, tore the place apart, and headed toward the prison house. We weren't expecting what we found in there, Pätryn. Seems the Crusade's been real busy. That whole thing is full of Argent Dawn prisoners. Most of them were already dead by the time we arrived, but a few were still breathing.”
The commander chuckled, the continued. “I was about to go in there and execute the rest of them, but I think you should have the honors. In particular, there's a real feisty human in there that I think you'll take great pleasure in executing.” He heard a chuckle, darker sounding than the commander’s, for that was who he must be, statement. “Of course… I will take pleasure in it…” said the Death Knight, who could only be Pätryn.
-Ellen hadn’t heard yet, and Khaz didn’t say anything. The Death Knight walked inside. A malevolent soldier, he was human, of middling height. He wore a hood covering his head and a scarf covering his face, revealing only blue glinting eyes. In his hands was a large sword, glowing with blue energy.
-Ellen stood up. “Come to finish the job, have you?” she growled. “I’d like to stand for…” she trailed off. “Pätryn?” she asked, horrified. Pätryn, I'd recognize that face anywhere.... What..... What have they done to you, Pätryn?” she asked in horror. Pätryn looked at her, hand drifting to his sword. “You don't remember me, do you? Blasted Scourge.... They've tried to drain you of everything that made you a righteous force of reckoning. Every last ounce of good... Everything that made you a human!” Ellen said, aghast. Still Pätryn did nothing.
-“ Think, Pätryn. Think back. Try and remember the hills and valleys of Elwynn, where you were born. Remember the splendor of life, brother. You were a champion of the Alliance once! This isn't you.” Pätryn’s eyes glowed a bit brighter, and he took a step closer. He knelt down next to her, staring at her intently. She was about to say something else when she gritted her teeth and grabbed her side, blood leaking through her fingers.
-She took a breath and tried again, “Listen to me, Pätryn. You must fight against the Lich King's control. He is a monster that wants to see this world - our world - in ruin. Don't let him use you to accomplish his goals. You were once a hero and you can be again. Fight, damn you! Fight his control!” Pätryn nodded slowly, hand still on his sword. Khaz heard a shout from outside. “What’s going on in there? What’s taking so long, Pätryn!” shouted the commander.
-Ellen gritted her teeth again, her side had begun to bleed harder. She grabbed Pätryn and pulled him closer. “There... There's no more time for me. I'm done for. Finish me off, Pätryn. Do it or they'll kill us both. Pätryn ... Remember Elwynn. This world is worth saving...” Pätryn stood, and pulled his sword from its sheath. “No!” cried Khaz in horror. Ellen turned a sad smile to the dwarf. “My wounds hurt Khaz, I don’t have much time, especially not for bleeding sides,” she said in mock lightness.
-Ellen turned back to Pätryn. “Please, do it.” Slowly he nodded, and the sword swung down. “No!” cried Khaz, one last, feeble time. Ellen smiled at him, and gasped, the sword piercing her chest. She grunted, and slid off the blade to land on the ground, dead. Khaz leapt to his feet and threw a fist at Pätryn. “How could you!” he yelled. Pätryn grimaced, and swung his sword again. Khaz only had one brief period to cry out before the sword plunged into his chest, right through his heart.
-Khaz fell, color draining from his vision as the Death Knight walked outside. He heard the commander say, “Felt good, didn't it? You're not one of them anymore, Pätryn. You're Scourge. You're one of us. Forever...” He knew it to be true…

The movie, “Battle of the Warriors,” directed by Chi Leung 'Jacob' Cheung, expressed anti-war ideals. In addition, its protagonist, Ge Li, embodied several of the qualities of a traditional wandering hero as outlined by James J. Y. Liu’s The Chinese Knight-Errant. However, the elements of the movie greatly questioned the ideal of individual freedom. Ge Li, as well as several of the other major characters in the movie, did not follow Liu’s guidelines of the wandering hero in terms of this quality.
Liu makes details of his heroes regarding the quality of individual freedom. He states: “they showed their non-conformity in daily life by living in what would nowadays be called a Bohemian manner and paying little attention to social conventions.” (Liu 5). This essentially means that the heroes were independent and nomadic and conversed little with the people. In addition, Liu, while comparing wandering heroes to Mohists, he states “The Mohists lead an austere and disciplined life; the knights-errant were often free and easy.” And “the Mohists were concerned with political and social equity, but the knights-errant were only concerned with personal justice.” (Liu 12). This proves that the wandering heroes Liu details mostly kept to themselves and cared little for others, possibly even their own clients.
Ge Li is different from that. He himself is a Mohist and therefore follows their disciplined beliefs of universal love, meaning he cares for all. He hardly acted for himself throughout the whole movie. For example, in two instances, he successfully defended the city from the Zhao invasion on Liang. In addition, he also defended a slave, someone he didn’t even know, when the citizens of Liang attempted to kill the slave for trying to kill a baby. Ge Li was the centerpiece everywhere, and was loved by the city he protected. Ge Li simply further proved his selflessness by politely refusing gifts and even stating once to Yi Yue, the cavalry captain that he didn’t accept gifts (Cheung). Then, after the King of Liang betrayed him and practically exiled Ge Li from the city, the wondrous protagonist returned to save Liang once again from the Zhaos, showing he does not value himself above the town and that he also has no qualms with the King, as he made no attempt to take vengeance.
The Prince of Liang, though he displayed some of the selfish, arrogant qualities earlier in the movie, gradually discarded these ideals as he became more enthralled by Ge Li’s ideals. When the King prosecutes Ge Li for usurping power, the Prince pretends to be taken hostage so that his idol can escape. He then asks to come with Ge Li so that he can learn and practice Ge Li’s selfless ideals, something that Liu’s wandering heroes would not do. This is a violation of individual freedom because the Prince is essentially “conforming” to Ge Li and the Mohist ideal, and also his selfless act shows he has no trace of arrogance left, which is the stuff of Liu’s heroes as well.
Yi Yue was another major character who contradicts Liu’s characteristic of individual freedom. Like the other two characters presented, Yi Yue also embodies a degree of self-sacrifice and caring for others. When Ge Li is troubled by his duty of defending Liang because of the sheer killing he has to do, Yi Yue takes the time to help him through his conflicting ideals. On the cusp of passion, she states to him that because of the Mohist ideal of universal love prevents him from loving one person (Cheung).
Yi Yue then makes the ultimate sacrifice by speaking out against the King of Liang after he begins executing citizens who support Ge Li’s cause. She says that all the King is doing is building his self-image with public executions, which is an extremely arrogant thing to do. She says this for the sake of not only Ge Li, who she loves, but also the people as a whole, as she’s showing the King as the corrupt ruler he is and that he should be overthrown. She then practically gets martyred, and though Liu’s heroes do not fear death, they do not die for the welfare of others like Yi Yue did.
