I personally never understood why someone would want to become a school teacher...
I enjoy teaching myself, and I'm only 19. I'm rather sure that this enjoyment will increase during the remaining 8 decades of life that I have.

Classes don't prepare you for college; not being lazy does.
I'd say "Not being lazy" prepares you for most of life, but who am I to say that?
Didn't you drop out...
Yeah?...

This still doesn't magically make it so that you're an expert on all subjects and are capable of teaching advanced high school courses.
I never claimed that I was an expert in all cases. I don't use myself as the sole source of teaching, or even my wife. We utilize the school district, including other teachers, as well as the entire school cirriculum, labs, libraries, study halls, etc. Homeschooling, when done properly, takes into account many many things. I don't HAVE to have a masters degree in order to be effecive. It is possible without one. That is my only claim.

Does it really need a response? You don't know the material as well as someone who spent years studying it. In public schools, there are six teachers putting all their time into a subject. In home schooling there are 2 teachers spreading all their time over 6 subjects... who don't really know the subjects to start with.
But they've got a textbook so it's all right.

There is a very large leap between teaching yourself/learning, and trying to teach a room full of screaming kids...
Not having a go at those who are teachers...just personally, I never understood the attraction...
Er... that was "myself" as in "Myself likes to teach others"...
Also, there's an issue with your people (kid) skills if you allow a class to be out of control. /shrug.

You're advocating home schooling and Laihendi is pointing out obvious flaws in it right?
