Laihendi has always loved Tchaikovsky as a composer, but just knowing about his life forces you to love him as a person too.
No not really. He admitted that he at least verbally abused his wife. Also he didn't appear to be responsible in many other aspects of life. I don't have much respect for him at all. Being gay has nothing to do with it.
Edit: Best music that ever existed though...
Eh... you know that his wife threatened to kill herself if he didn't marry her right? And then he had a nervous breakdown right after marrying her, and attempted to kill himself in a river. His wife also threatened many times to make his sexuality public, which at best would have ruined his career (19th century Russia...).
In what ways was he irresponsible?

Yes. His situation was a tough one, no doubt. There is also question (i read) that his homosexuality may have been the cause of a forced suicide by his colleuges. So, yes, his situation was harsh. Am I one to judge his soul? No. Do I agree with what he did? No. Do I respect him as a man? Based on what I know, no. Is his music awesome? Yes.

But what did he do that makes you disrespect him? What could have have done different in your opinion?

MyTie
I don't disrespect him either. I don't know him enough to form either a biased either way. Very few people elicit a feeling of deep and virtuous respect. Ideas I respect... privacy, law, family, etc. God I respect. People... rarely. Don't think that I'm hating on Tchaikovsky. For all I know, he was a terrible terrible human being. For all I know, he was a saint.

Do you at least respect him as a composer? That would fall under musical ideas.

I just threw up into my mouth a little.
The thought of you and Laihendi merged into one being makes you throw up what?

You're probably more liberal than you care to admit.
Edit: Why did it censor that word...
And no this isn't supposed to be an attack on MyTie.

True liberalism, possibly. Common usage in the United States strikes a chord out of tune with my song. This 'progressive' is a word that I find particuarly distasteful. Usually it is applied to government, which I see like a cancer, infecting all portions of my daily life, spreading its need for power. There are some who think the cancer should progress faster. Fools babbing "Change we need", and "First Amendment Rights", with such vigor and lack of perspective, that they threaten to destory the very foundation they are standing on.

So what does Laihendi believe?
Post by
Laihendi
Laihendi believes in voters actually knowing something about the people they vote into office so that it's possible to have a responsible government that acts in the best interest of the country.
Basically not going "lol i voted 4 obama because he is change i can believe in" or "lol i voted mccain cuz he is a reel american hero".
Post by
MyTie
We agree then. So, what does one do if there are enough ZOMG LULZ idiots out there voting the country down the crapper that no amount of explaining that a crapper is a bad idea will improve thier votes?

Laihendi honestly doesn't think Obama is doing a bad job right now. Increasing government spending is what Eisenhower did to get out of a recession back in the 50's. It also got America out of the depression (even though this spending was forced because of the war). Before the war FDR was spending a load, but it seemed to be going to good purposes.
Yes, with everything the democrats are doing right now, it seems scary. But ask yourself, would it really be better if the president/congress just ignored the problem and hoped it fixed itself? That's what President Hoover did until he got voted out of office in 1932, and it didn't work at all.
tl;dr: Government taking action to solve a problem is generally better than government ignoring the problem and hoping it goes away.

generally, this is where we disagree. Congressional spending has nearly topped the GDP of 2008. That means that congress has spent more money than everything produced here in the US was worth total last year. That's a lot of money, and a lot of debt. Unjustified. Especially to bail out a car company that is in it's spot because people don't buy thier cars. Instead they get our money anyway, and we get no cars out of it.
