disc will offer a little synergy: a mage would benefit from a stronger pw:shield, imp DI, and power infusion. but you will do more damage as shadow, and 2-manning quests doesn't require a holy-spec healer... just know when to drop shadowform.

if your 2 maning content, its real easy to do anything even without shadow form, since the mage can pewpew all day long if you help him out. My advice to to level shadow. you can probably 2 man the elites required in a group as both of you can dos while you throw some heals in sometimes.
