That is a great summary for the nerf. Just the other day I was talking to someone bout how many times I trapped a mob in group otw to 80... guess how many? Besides trapping for taming, ZERO. The times I offered I was told not to bother.
I trap sometimes but more often than not it's just to speed things along, not because we need to. It depends on who is in the group as well.
But what irks me here is that so many mobs resist traps, it's almost like Blizzard is saying "we don't want you to trap". It's frustrating to the group as well, when we do have a trap target and the mob resists or the trap "misses". It just points more to the inference that Blizzard don't know what they want from the Hunter class.
I love playing my Hunter but more and more I just don't see much group benefit from the class.

However, by most reports T7 raids are intentionally easy, to get more new players accustomed to the raid playstyle, and Blizzard is apparently planning T8 to be fist-to-the-nuts hard in comparison.
With that in mind, I would fully expect a lot more use of Crowd Control, similar to what we needed pretty much everywhere in BC, hence more Trap utility for Survival will definitely be welcome.
The problem with easy T7 to hard T8 is that it doesn't get anyone accustomed to anything except reasonably easy dungeons. Things can fall apart when the challenge is suddenly, dramatically increased. It's better to learn from the ground up with a challenge.
If CC is going to become a factor again in 3.1, BM is going to need a serious boost. With the pet nerfs last patch, along with a drop in personal DPS, BMs are going to be hurting bad in places where they were once well suited. A pet holding back a mob is a pretty integral part of BM CC and a nerfed pet isn't going to help.

I don't like the ammo changes. Annoying as it was to run out i liked buying my ammo. I would like to see different ways to make it tho. Maybe by LW.
Considering rogues got misdirects, i would also like to see some sort of tipped arrow introduced.
I personally think BM needs a nice big re work anyway. Its pretty broken, while finally SV and Mm are on the up. I like the fact i don't have to rely on my pet, i'd rather rely on myself.

I have two very different opinions on the ammo situation.
First: I'll love it on my hunter, no more buying arrows / bullets (he's too little for the engineered stuff) which is quite expensive after a days leveling & instances. Also, never having to hear another hunter say "OOPS, I forgot to get arrows, can you guys wait while I hearth and reload?" Also, another bag slot? Oh really? Please & Thank you.
Second: I will probably drop 450 Engineering on my Prot Pally because now there is nothing that I can make for a steady profit besides two guns and the chopper, both of which I have to farm the mats for myself unless someone has already done it themselves. I make pretty good tips on the crafted arrows, that will be gone.
Also: If blizz is going to hook up hunters like this, they DO need to throw Locks a bone and make soulshards stack up to, say 20 or so giving them their bag slot back as well.

My question is how useful will hunters be now with both mages and locks gaining replenishment? I mean ret paladins and shadow priests were preferred for it over me but now what?

Arrows and bullets no longer stack,
but are consumed.
Ok, on the issue of ammo being equipped like a relic or trinket. I believe that is unlikely and bullets/arrows will become the same as thrown weapons. They will have a durability just like thrown but they will have durability equal to our old quivers/ammo pouches, 4000. They will add ranged haste only to avoid rogues and wand warriors from getting a huge haste benefit. The reason I think it will have durability is because it says that it will be consumed, much like is right now, but wont stack. Therefor the only known in-game option is to make it have durability. Now of course create a new game mechanic making the whole discussion null.
But that won't be consumed. Your saying that they are being consumed.
It should read like this:
Arrows and bullets no longer stack,
but aren't consumed.

Perhaps ammo will be equipped to a ranged weapon slot in much the same fashion as a scope?
That would be interesting but then what happens to the bag slot left open from the lack of a quiver? If they do remove it then they would need to remove the bag slot taken up by the locks' soul shard bag.

And, specially this one:

I think Blizzard wanted to give us one more bag slot for us to use (blue and green drops, mining and skinning mats, etc). I'm thinking they are getting rid of the consumable ammo and moving the quiver slot to our character screen. Ammo would be treated like a armor or weapon slot. We would still have a nice quiver on our backs when we shoot bow.
How it would affect engineering? IDK. Maybe Blizzard will give engineers more useful recipes?
I think if they left the ammo consumable but move it to our character screen. That would still be a better improvement.
