While I like the changes, I'm holding some reservations about them until some numbers are produced on the PTR before 3.1 release. The last thing we need is another massive shift from SV to MM then find out MM will be tweaked back like SV was.
As for the sniper change, we really don't know what blizz has instore for us. Perhaps a long range dps could be (or already has been?) worked into the game. Unless it was specifically done for PVP, then I'd say, this is totally useless.
There's reasons why these changes are coming but until we know the "why" the overall picture is still blurred imo.

There is no way Piercing Shots will stay with a 30% Bleed damage. It'll likely be dropped to 15 or 20% tops.
The ammo thing I don't care for, Hunters should have to maintain ammo supplies, it's part and parcel with the class. Following that sort of change I wouldn't be surprised to see Hunters being able to instant-summon pets like Warlocks can.
I'm thinking we'll see ammo drops from dungeons and whatnot, greens, blues and purples with varying attributes and it's likely on the ammo we'll see the speed boost applied since quivers are going to be useless (I hope Leatherworkers get some replacement recipes, but I'm not holding my breath).
I'd like to be optimistic about 3.1 Hunter changes but after the past little while, I'm hugely skeptical and tend to be on the side of suspecting a series of hidden nerfs more than beneficial changes.

...We can already do that.

Hopefully that's not all they do to the BM tree. BM needs more than just an increase to pet DPS.
If Blizz tries to make up all of the lost DPS through pets only, your pet is going to be doing a ridiculous % of your total DPS... probably 60%+. And then if your pet dies at any point during a boss fight, your DPS = fail.
The actual BM hunter needs to see a DPS increase as well as the pet so that we maintain the nice DPS balance we saw pre-3.08 where the pet accounted for ~45% or so of total DPS.

What the hey? We can dismiss one pet and immediately summon another pet out from the stable no matter where we are? Really?
It never occurred to me that something that absurd would actually be implemented.

Consumable ammunition has been removed from the game. Arrows and bullets no longer stack, but are not consumed. Ranged attack speed bonus gained from quivers and ammo bags will be preserved in a different capacity.
Junk. I'm a BM Engineer. By changing this you make the game less realistic and remove part of the economy at the AH. Over-simplification. Kinda goes along with pet happiness. Tamed and now instantly your best friend. Pointless.
Why don't they remove all the grind all together? Make all classes identical. The running out of ammo brought more to the game than the removal of it. So now engineers have a set of useless skills unless they allow us to make an ammo box that will go in the ammo slot beside the bow/gun. Still, it will be only 1 sold per hunter. Nerfing a part of the WoW economy is silly. How do engineers now come up with 14,000 Gold for the Chopper? Grind 250 gold from dailies per day? Get lucky and sell some enchant stuff on the AH(after a friend d/e's)?
Want to make things better? Lower the cost of epic flight training... that way more people can sell more stuff on the AH sooner and reduce the cost of ammo.
This is a bad move by Blizz.

There are huge strides being made towards simplification of the game with mixed results. It's hurting Hunters for certain, as evidenced by the recent nerfs and resulting confusion.
Blizz felt BM was doing too much damage in PVE so they nerfed the spec. But the reason BM did so much damage in PVE is because the instances are fairly easy in comparison to TBC content. In TBC a Hunter had to keep mobs trapped, fire on the main target and more often than not have their pet off-tank another mob. Now we don't need to do any of that so we can focus everything on one target, with the result being a lot of damage. So instead of looking at that side, Blizz nerf the class because they don't want to change up difficulty.
Point being, while some of the simplification changes are good, it's causing harm as well and Blizz are digging themselves something of a quagmire with regards to class balancing. One would think it'd be easier and more beneficial to tweak dungeons than constantly fussing with classes. Let us do our thing and react to the challenges presented rather than keeping us in a state of flux and disorder.
