(bearform)11k hp un-buff is kind a gimp for your current gear if you go there w/ that setup your grp will definitely struggle specially the healers. You dont need the gladiator set to achieve atleast 14k hp unbuff your just not wearing the proper gears.
Try looking at this guide because this is what i followed when i started doing kara (though there is nothing much for feral druid in kara specially for tanking gear) the only thing that i use from kara now when tanking is the shermannar ring and t4 gloves + violet eye tanking trinket the rest now is from badges and heroics which gives me 17.6k hp unbuff and 23k+ fully buffed.

Personally I think it's not merely limited to arena gear, but all pvp gear - and in my experience the majority of attitudes associated with those fully clad in such gear (at least on the realm I'm on). Seems like most those fully geared in arena or just gladiator look down upon those of us that prefer to get gear via pve. Am I biased on this, yes, I personally hate pvp - which is why I'm on a pve server, yet the majority of epic gear pieces on the server is predominately pvp. So in the sense of "arena gear ruining pve" - I would have to agree - as again, it seems the general consensus is to ignore raids and just go into a battlegrounds and die a crap load of times to get your gear - why bother learning things like working with a group when that's all you need to do to get the best gear in the game?

The only reason for PvP gear being worn in PvE is if you have one of the S3 weapons, or you are a tanking druid, as it gives the most stamina for early raids and resilience, making you uncrittable and not needing to stack def

When I started tanking kara I had about 23k armor, 415 def, and 13k health unbuffed. This was all from crafted equipment(heavy clefthoof set+ stylin purple hat), quest rewards(verdant handwraps, manimals cinch, umberhowls cowl, ravenguard neck piece of some kind), one random drop that you can get off the AH(Braxxis' staff of slumber), and a few other pieces here and there, with relevent enchants.
This is pretty much the minimum equipment a druid should have when tanking kara. It would be better if you got the epic feral heroic drops(belt from h ramps, legs from h mana tombs, boots from h underbog), the earthwarden, and possibly a piece or two from heroic badges(necklace of the juggernaut, the tanking cape, tanking ring), although the last ones are easier to get once you are clearing kara weekly.
Frankly, you were undergeared, especially if you were supposed to be a MT. Several of the mobs that hit like semi trucks(the waiters who make you drunk in moroes room, the skeletal ushers before opera) would have either butchered you or at least put way too much pressure on the healers to keep you up.

Look at it from this perspective: Let's say you've got two Rogues in your Kara group. One has Gladiator weapons, the other has.. I dunno, Edge of the Cosmos and whatever offhand. Now, the degree to which the first Rogue will demolish the second in terms of performance is dependent on the sum total of their gear, but that first one will outperform regardless (we're presuming equal skill level here).
The second Rogue wants a Spiteblade. Understandable enough, but.. if I were the raid leader there, I'd want to know why one of my Rogues is sacrificing the raid's performance for the sake of a low drop rate weapon when they could easily get a much better one with a little individual effort. I would very seriously reconsider their value to my guild.
You kill a boss once for the front page. You kill them twice to show you can. You kill them three times or more for the stuff they drop and that's the part where it becomes a farm whose only purpose is to
aid progression.
If your guildies are stunting progression because they lack the initiative to improve themselves, they're responsible for the speed at which you move on and any discontent caused by slow progression is their fault.
I'm not saying this applies to your case, OP. I'm also not saying that your guild wasn't out of line (if you've tanked it just fine in the past, I fail to see the problem). I'm just answering your question re: PvP gear, by way of example.
I fully agree with this entire quote - couldn't have wrote it better myself (especially the part concerning the two rogues).
