Try to find items with both. An Intellect item by itself will usually not be better than an Int/Spirit item. Spirit by itself is nice, but regeneration and 30% of spirit into damage is negligible next to mana longevity and crit rating for longer duration fights. With both however you will typically end up much better then you previously were.
It takes 167 Int to gain just 1% crit, if you want a high crit% look for crit rating, not Int.
For longer fights Spirit is much more useful to 'locks than Int, more Spirit means fewer, bigger Life Taps.

lol, sorry mate. SP is worth almost 4 times crit.
there's still a debate to be had about how much better SP is than crit but the fact that SP is better is _not_ debatable.

Since crit gear > +Int and spells are a % of mana, would an affliction lock want to keep his +Int as close to zero as possible?
I'm not saying I'd pass up upgrades because they had +Int on them, but am I underappreciating Int?
No, spells cost a % of
base
mana, which is your mana before all the +Int.
Having +Int gear makes your spells cost less as a % of your total mana pool.
But as mana regen really isn't a big issue for 'locks (Life Tap) the effect isn't significant.

Spirit is worth more than intellect.
Your primary stackorder should look like this Hit>SP>haste>crit>spirit>int
totaly agree , but not for 41/30 ... i have 353 hit which i think is enough , i never miss, NEVER, but sp before crit i am not agree ... i got smaller dps if i don't crit a lot , raid buffed modest 30 % crit gives me average 2,5 k DPS , if i use even spellstone instead of firestone i can see small DPS, if i use food with 46 spell instead of the 30 crit that i use i see again small DPS ....
I dunno , maybe just me , but still SP = Affli lock
You keep posting this, and several people have told you multiple times that you are prioritising your stats wrong.
It's +hit (till capped) > +SP, +haste,+crit
And yes this applies to the 41/30 Felguard build as well as Affliction, Destruction and all other Demonology builds.

yes all specs.
if you're hitting for 4k then you'll be critting for 8k in fact.
the thing is that, with ruin:
a 1% increase in crit rate ~= a 1% increase in nuke damage.
a 1% increase in cast speed ~= 1% increase in damage.
so, all else being equal, it comes down to which gives more, point for point.
and this is the most important difference between haste and crit:
1% crit = 48.5 rating
1% haste = 32.8 rating
1 point of rating just does much less for crit than haste.
