Once it is opened, do a file>save as.
Then save the new file in a non-read only format and open that one to start plugging in values.
CK
When I open it, it gives me the "Import Excel Spreadsheet" menu. So I open one the spreadsheets, the option to "Save" or "Save As.." is greyed out and inaccessible at this point, and it gives me the list of errors. I changed the file to "Read Only" and via right clicking on the file and going into the "Properties" option in the drop down menu. I even re-name it and it still gives me the same errors. =(
Honestly, delete that file you have it got corrupted or something.
Restart your computer and try downloading the file again.

This info was posted in another thread and I wanted to bring it here so that everyone could update their spreadsheet to 3.0.9.

These are probably very silly questions, but here goes...
When doing a File > Save As.. which exact format should I use? The one I'm using does not let me edit the sheet (save dps for example) and I'm unsure which one is right.
Oh, and another thing.. Every time I try to save dps according to "To save DPS, copy from C8, press Esc, paste in C9" thing the paste option fades out once I press Esc. But if I dont press esc and paste in, the dps does not save and changes every time I switch out some piece of my gear. I'd like to know what am I doing wrong.
Thanks in advance and sorry for these silly questions :<

Hey, just want to thank the OP for a fantastic explanation on how to use the spreadsheet. It's everything I always wanted to have but was too lazy to write. :) I'll go ahead and add a link to this thread from my sheet's thread, so hopefully that'll help some of the people who tend to post in that thread asking really basic usage questions.
Regarding the DPS and Cycles sheets. The DPS sheet contains the final stage of the DPS calculations for the entire sheet - part three of three, so to speak. The hidden sheets "DPS Calc 1" and "DPS Calc 2" largely resemble the DPS sheet, and together they just repeat the same calculations a few times so that the sheet can figure out how much DPS you deal once your cycle stabilizes.
The Cycles sheet contains the calculations for every permutation of every type of cycle. It also contains some tables that determine how many combo moves it takes you to reach a given target number of CP, and the likelihood that you overshoot that number. Finally, it contains a table that determines how your actual cycle shakes down, combining those two tables. There are three "Cycles" sheets (two hidden), each one associated with the corresponding "DPS Calc" sheet.
Of course, if any of that was unclear to you, you probably don't want to be looking at those sheets or really care what's on them anyway. ;)

My pleasure.
Thanks for the tool to make the guide possible ;)
I'm now one of the better rogues on the server thanks to that.

i'm mutilate spec and would like to get some clarification to the "Pool Energy" field. the spreadsheet has it for 60 as the default. does that mean that i should wait until i have 60 energy before doing the combo move? if so, what is the significance of pooling 60 energy before doing so? i find that a lot of times, i have to refresh my ssd by using envenom even when i'm low on energy. please comment, thanks.
I don't know for sure, but I'm going to throw out some speculation.
If you pool energy before using your abilities, when you are not pressed to refresh something, you will be able to string attacks together to increase your dps.
Say you spam a 4cp envenom that doesn't proc relentless strikes at 35 energy. You now have to wait like 5 secs to land your next mutilate.
How ever if you had waited for 60energy to pool when using that 4cp envenom that doesn't proc relentless strikes, you could mutilate 2-3 secs after you envenon.
More hits in less time = more dps

Pooling energy was required for optimal performance back when find weakness wasn't a passive boost to yellow attacks, but rather a self-buff that activated on finishers. As far as I know, pooling is unneeded now.

Is there anyway to transfer gear to the new updated spreadsheets that are put out? Or do I just have to do it manually everytime?
