By not using hotkeys, you dont maximize your DPS, therefor your not as good as you can be.. even if your not behind in DPS in the dungeons, you still would do better with hotkeys..
Happy hunting
you click on spell and then you have at least one second to click on another one, if you are doing it without losing time, then you dont have to hotkey :)

I personally run a Belkin Nostromo N52TE gaming pad. I use Bartender4 and have it mapped to match my Game pad. The game pad uses a three state mode. IE Blue Red Green. So instead of the stock fifteen key configuration you can actually run forty-five keys in the three modes. I use the d-pad for all my movement. and have the same three keys under each mode bound to "state swap" Also my tab control and alt binds are all the same under each mode. I effectively only run ten keys for hot-keys, however with the three different states it effectively gives me thirty key binds. Combined with my alt and control modifiers I have ninety easy to reach key-binds. Now I know some people are going, holy crap ninety key-binds I would NEVER use that many! I do agree it seems like a ton of different key binds and it is. However after three months of using it it is one hundred percent second nature now and I personally cannot imagine being without it.

I'm not OCD about keybinding. I have 1-5, q, e, f1, f2, f, z, x, and c bound to abilities I use frequently. Thats 13 "Combat" abilities I need to have at any time during any given fight. Others that I use as non-combat abilities I may click just because I don't feel like binding my whole keyboard. Combat abilities are a priority for keybinding though.
Ohh, and if you are just starting, start by keybinding your TOP 5 abilities that you use. Go to an old dungeon that you can run through and practice with them till you get used to them. Once you are comfortable, add more.

I have been a clicker since the start, I just can't pick up keybinding well. Of course it could just be me.
Yes I do realize that it gimps me slightly, but i've learned to counter it well enough. If I could pick up Keybinding, I would use it, but my muscle memory still wins out right now.

Uh, on my lock I'm a clicker and I must be a noob too. Even though, I broke 2k dps the other day o:
I've been looking into hotkeys more and more though.
lol he didn't mean if your 1800 clicker, your 2000 keybinder, as in pve dps, keybinds in pve arent to needed, he meant for pvp as this is a pvp forum, if your 1800 rated you will become 2000.

Evolution of Character Control.
Step#1: Clicking and keyboard turning.
Step#2:The wonderful world of mouselook.
Step#3: Discovering the joys of strife and the 1-2-3-q-e-c buttons.
Step#4: The epiphany of shift Alt and Control keys.
Step#5: The magical world of macros.
About step #5 most people stop. Step #6 probably did more for my speed and reaction time and simple ease of playing than anything else.
Step#6:
Bind everything you most often use to your mousewheel (and buttons if your mouse has them, almost every mouse today has a wheel though).
Mousewheelup
Mousewheeldown
Mousewheelclick
Doesnt seem like alot untill you remember step#4. With mousewheel alone couples with the three modifier keys you can have 21 seperate actions. And the way your hand will lay on a typical keyboard you can still have your fingers on the three key movement keys. A-D-W while being able to click any combination of shift-ctrl-alt with your thumb and pinky.
Doing things like this, even keybinding simple things like mounting to an extra key on my mouse made everything so much easier. I bearly lift a finger in pvp or pve. The mopuse buttons you have on your mouse the better. If you have a couple extra I reccomend binding mounting and autorun as well as leaveing out the control key as it is the hardest key to reach if any.
And all of that still leaved q-e-1-2-3 and your function keys clear for less often spammed keys. Thats another advantage of the mousewheel. One flick of the wheel is like me spamming my keyboard 8 times in less than a second.

I just recently switched to straight key bindings from a mixature of click and keybinds. I have to say that it does help in certain situations, but does take quite a while to get used to. I still tend to misclick right now but is getting better.
