Cranky Tank

Hi there, I used to tank on my druid and I sympathize with your situation.
One thing I might suggest trying is to keybind the skull icon and only using that one. Pug dps'ers tend to be a bit on the slow side in my experience and a kill order is too much for them to remember. I'd mark one mob with the skull, then mark another when the first target was dead. Some of them
still
couldn't help attacking the wrong target, so I'd just let them die.
Another thing I used and found quite useful was mouseover macros for high threat moves. For example I had lacerate tied to a mouseover macro so I could lacerate mobs without losing my main target. It worked great for building threat on multiple mobs without having to tab target everything.
Don't worry about being cranky. It's YOUR group, you're leading it. Don't be shy about kicking dps that don't listen to instructions, they have to learn somehow. Tell 'em if they don't like it to go roll a tank.

I tried that once just to prove how bad ass druids are. I only managed to make a fool out of myself T_T But nevertheless, the guild mates had a good laugh. Good for them. Since then, I have NEVER tried resurrecting while actively engaged in tanking. If the n00b dies, let him stay dead.

This one time, during a timedrun in Zul'Aman, one of our healers died on the fourth boss.
Myself, being the overconfident druid I was, popped barkskin, cast rebirth and reentered bearform. CHeers were heard all over Skype.
When I tried the same stunt next week, my dodge wasn't quite as lucky, and we wiped.
Oh well. :)

Of course when the situation allows it, I use my Rebirth even if I am tanking. One simple example would be during the Ingvar the Plunderer fight, between phases. Should any n00b die, there's enough time to bring'em back. Or if there's some handy help there. On the first heroic Kel Thuzad attempt, me and a Death Knight were off tanking the Guardians of Icecrown, two of them each. A healer died, the DK tank taunted them off me, used Icebound Fortitude, I resurrected the guy and then took my two giant bugs back for a spank. That's called 'versatility' for all the other tanks out there that think they are so cool in their shiny plate and look down on us Furry Bears!

Once you go bear, you never go back.

Hehe, for sure, I did that in heroics all the time in TBC.
I just hit shiftwerx to 80 last night, and was running a few heroics. We had an UNGODLY NOOB war tank that couldn't hold threat worth a grain of salt, and if the pull went sour, my 18k hp in bear kitty gear with full dps spec would start tanking them. I got a few praises from the mage for saving his hide a few times.

UNGODLY NOOB war tank
I am almost chronically unable to instance in groups where I'm not tanking.

Hehe, I'm almost the same. If I wasn't in some pretty lame quest gear, I'ld be tanking, but my hp fully buffed with kings and motw is only 21.5k, and I'm not bear spec, which would be a requirement in heroics in my gear, but I don't want to be a squishy bear tank starting out... That and I'm pushing 1300 dps overall in noob gear, so a few pieces I'll be top DPSing these things... LoL! The other thing is, my buddy(holy pally) wants me to gear up for 2v2, which means I need to really work on my deeps reflexes, so being bear 90% of the time would be a very bad thing for those skills, especially since a burst combo is what, 7-8 buttons, not to mention if I have to cc, adding 3-4 more buttons. That's a lot of stuff to get used to mashing.

Ignoring, for the moment, ridiculously stupid situations like, I'll FFF 1 of a 3 pull, and as the mobs are coming towards me, the rogue cheap shots one, the hunter opens up on another.
Ok, right there you should, gaps... i know it gonna sound strange... talk to your PUG!
Tell to the rogue to not cheap shot (also tell to DK to not death grip, it is another thing that annoy the hell out of me) and to all the DPS to focus on your target and if they dont, you will simply leave. Usualy it make them do what they need to.

I was actually doing the same, but it wasn't quite the same. It was more of a "I just used 4 points on SR and you lost aggro again?...!.!.!"
That was getting really annoying. I ended up tanking half of the final boss too. I threw on my tank gear knowing he was more than likely going to drop. He made it to second phaze, then dropped. Luckily, I was on vent with the healer, and when he said "Sh!t silence", I go bear and get my taunt and BS buttons ready.
