When you wiped, sure you had mana still(not the end of the fight =).
If you don't have mana issues, you can by all means use Glyph of Seal of Light. Especially if you use a FoL spam strategy. That's up to you. For a raider, we typically want to conserve our mana just in case it goes sour, and as a FoL spammer myself, I swap to HL spamming in an instant when the situation calls for it.
From what you said, it sounds like you aren't keeping track of your beacon. If you keep beacon active on the tank, and heal the party, he will be healed too. You have to keep track of it tho. Make sure you know how much time is left on it, and don't just assume it's still up. If your party member gets caught in the nova on Loken, and you heal him for 10-13k hp, your tank should recieve that much healing as well with beacon. Same with raiding, especially if you are the only paladin. Beacon the tank, and FoL spam everything that isn't topped off. You don't sound like you have horrible gear, my FoL, fully raid buffed pushing 2450 spell power, crits for 6k and heals for 3.3-3.5k.
The problem with using Glyph of SoL vs. Glyph of SoW, is if you get in the situation where you have to spam HL(being a FoL spammer), you will run outa mana, because 10% of a 1200 mana heal is a lot when you cast it every 1.5-2 seconds.
But, it's your game, and you are more than welcome to use SoL glyphed. =) That would be your preference of healing style.

I'll try to get gemming in on my lunch break today. It's hard to squeeze in an hour or so to adds stuff when I'm at work. =(

Hehe, ya LoS is an issue more now than ever. You have to watch stairs, and be specific when directing for LoS and range issues, like the dispersion boss in HoL for example. I tell them go down the stairs or they don't get heals, 90% of the time, there is still one person that runs up, and most of the time he dies from the boss casting his arcane thing on him while he's not topped off. That's one of the main reasons I have PoJ in my builds. Being quicker means less run time, and more healing. Typically I use my shock on the move.
This is part of the learning process tho, if you learn where you need to be and when, it makes life easier. Like in Nexus, you can't be near the tank during mob fights near the mage boss or you get silenced a lot.
For Nexus, you have to either cc or kill the frost one first. Then the arcane one. The fire one will only damage to the tank so long as he keeps aggro. I actually run around and aggro all of them when I tank, it just makes things easier. You nuke frost quick and try to keep it stunned, that way you don't have blizzard aoe damage to worry about for so long. With the arcane one up, time stop + blizzard means a lot of panic heals. I'll even go HoJ the the frost one myself if no one is on it.

Gemming is now included. If you have anything to add to it or comments about it, let me know. It's a bit rough to look up gems, so I kept it simple, at least for now.

Ya, if you can get a deal on Luminous gems, and put them in your red and yellow slots, you will be at almost identical stats, so if they are half as expensive, it's a good option to gem for cheaper.

Great guide. Been healing since classic WoW. Personally, I go with FoL spam. If you keep your judgment up the haste puts it at about 1s (assuming you have some haste to begin with). Like lots of people, Beacon was weird to learn at first but now it is something I use. However beacon is just something I avoid spamming because of mana cost. Beacon is all about the type of encounter... the specifics. Like are two tanks taking dmg? or Maybe you're on Sapph where there is CONSTANT raid wide dmg. Throw it on another healer maybe? or yourself? Keeping healers up can make a world of difference.
As for gemming I went ONLY int. With 21k mana unbuffed and then 5 points into kings... makes for an enormous mana pool. I have yet to OOM. In fact I often finish boss encounters with 80-90% of my mana left. Keep Divine Plea on CD and its usually a win.
Sacred shield I toss on the tank. Not much more (unless I'm doing Laotheb where there's huge chunks of time where you're doing nothing.)
I SWEAR by Holy Shock. With about 30% crit, and a couple tier bonuses.... Holy Shock is awesome. It gives us our mobility and huge amounts of healing with low cost. Often I get my Shock criting, then an instant flash crit. Roughly healing around 12k in an instant (godsend for KT) and with a beacon somewhere you've just healed 24k in an INSTANT.
...you sir...are a holy light spammer, not USING holy light. Consider it.

this +2% int gem would gave me only 17int -> 255mana
Lightrain must be joking telling
Who wants an extra 2-3k mana from one gem? Seriously? I think this speaks for itself. =)
its 2 percent not 20....
You are right. Thank you for pointing that out. In my gear, raid buffed, I have 22k mana. I haven't found that meta yet, but I would only push an extra 440 points on my mana bar before talents. I believe that's still a 40int gem tho right? Eh, user preference, I will correct the error tho.
and my personal weight scale for all items is
Intellect - 100
Critical strike rating - 90
Spellpower - 80
Haste rating - 40
mana regeneration - 30
The weight scale is showing what it means, not what preference is to a person with descent gear. The weight scale I describe is what people have seen for item weights posted on wowhead or other sites, and the reason for their weight is because of it's effect on HPS alone. It doesn't have much to do with what a raid holy paladin will prefer or itemize/gem, but having straight crit gear is only prefered for longevity fights, and we all know that at current, pushing incredible cast speeds with over 300-400 haste stacked up, our regen is amazing, and crit, while very amazing on regen, isn't nearly as good to our hps as haste is.
Your scale would be the prefered itemization for a raiding holy paladin as far as what you would want to gem first, except that most paladins don't gem for crit over spell power, but some will and do. It's your preference.

In the end I agree with Lightrain, crit isn't that important since we have insane mana regen with even less than decent gear. Increased spellpower means bigger normal heals which means less dependency on percentages (like crit percentage) which means less dependency on random "events" which means more consistency. Think that works better overall.
Crit isn't that important as long as you are at or over 30% crit chance on holy spells. If you don't reach this threshold, you will have mana issues. You may want more for HL spamming, but you can get away with 30% as long as you aren't continually spamming it.
For the instructor razuvius(sp) fight, we spam holy light on the target that got cracked a few times without bone shield up, because it always happens, and it's always amazing how quickly 3 holy paladins fillup a 200k deficite. =) Typical HPS numbers for this fight are in the 4-5k range easily per holy paladin for the overall fight.
