How to be Bigger: a Guide to Growth
Return to board index
Post by

This is a nice orginal thread. I would like to see some screenshots if possible of gargantuan proportions!
Unfortunately, most of my screenshot database got lost in a hard drive wreck. I recovered a bunch, but only the older ones, before this experiment. :(
As I acquire new screenies of stacked growth effects, I'll post 'em up. If anyone has others (that include buff icons), post a reply and link 'em. :)

This deserves a sticky.
If a Gnome took all of these buffs, would he be bigger than a Tauren? :x
If a gnome paladin/warrior/DK took only #1, #2, 1 from #5, and #7 (the easiest of the top 7), s/he'd only be about 2.5 times normal size. So probably not bigger than a tauren. ;)

Ohh.....s!@#$. Sorry for interrupting but you should change your title....or do something.....because it is kind of - you know - misleading. So....uh....yea......next time be specific about in WoW or something.
:P
So, the fact that it's in the WoW General forum is insufficient to indicate it's about WoW? I felt mentioning WoW in the subject line was redundant. But, if enough people complain, I can tweak it.

Update 1/20/2009 -- Kissing Mojo now dismounts you, thus obsoleting the mega-mount effect this used to result in. I've crossed it off the list.

Probably intentional to save space, but
Elixir of Giant Growth
gives a ModScale of 30, not 25.

Great list! Helps a bunch! Now if only someone would make one for growing incredibly small...

Actually, no, I missed that minor difference. Good catch! *fixes*

Breakdown of possible transporter malfunctions for the Area51 transporter, specifically (the Everlook transporter is different, and has no size mod effects). The following statistics are based on 346 recorded transfers beginning October 14th 2008 and ending March 23rd 2009 (thus straddling the WotLK release, which may have seen changes in these numbers).
Count Frequency Effect
-------------------------------------------
166 47.977% Nothing
53 15.318% Racial swap
16 4.624% Evil Twin
34 9.827% Off-target
19 5.491% You feel smaller somehow
19 5.491% Soul-split: Evil
19 5.491% Soul-split: Good
20 5.780% You feel larger somehow
-------------------------------------------
346 100.0% Total

Patch 3.1.1 might have done away with some of the random effects. 27 tests into it, and the Area51 porter has not generated a single growth buff. Got a shrink buff once, and lots of racial swaps and Nothings, but none of the 3 enlarge buffs have triggered yet. If the odds were the same as they used to be, I should have seen approximately 4 or 5 of them thusfar.
I did manage to test out the Secret Strength of the Frenzyheart daily. Finally got my rep up that high. And yes, drinking the Thunderbrew constantly does make you steadily larger. As the item description says, it makes you slightly bigger (~ModScale 10) every 10 seconds you're drinking it, or so. And you can keep getting new cups from the dwarf as often as you like (though you can only hold one at a time).
Once you've stopped drinking, you have about 15 seconds or so with the size before it dissipates. If you start drinking again before it goes away, you avoid losing it.
It does not stack with Elixir of Giant Growth or Gigantic Feast.
It takes about 5 minutes to get to maximum size, which appears to be approximately 15x normal size. You have just enough time to get on a mount and walk around, or perhaps dance a little, or just walk around or whathaveyou. I got on my Blue Proto-drake mount, and took up half of Nessingwary's Camp. It was ludicrous.
You will be utterly plastered long before you reach maximum size. This will blur your screen completely. You can disable one of the video effects (I think it's spectral something), and the blurriness will go away, but there will still be some fisheye effect. This distortion makes you look even taller than you really are. ;)
Many images and videos taken. I'll get some posted.

Hey, looks like I was a bit confused about the stackability of Gigantic Feast and Winterfall Firewater. I'd swear it wasn't stackable when I tested it last, but last night, it worked. I wonder if it's an order-of-operations thing. In the stackable case last night, Gigantic Feast came first, WF came second, and it stacked. Elixir of Giant Strength replaced WF, and actually shrank me back to Gigantic Feast size (30%). I think WoW devs set up a scheme where buffs of equal % do not stack with each other. Which would seriously impact the 'facts' in the first post.

Good thread you have here, very informative for those who want to grow, but have you ever thought of making a guide on how to shrink?
