Even though I have never had someone get a hold of my account information, I ordered a couple last week just to stay on the safe side. Taking a couple extra seconds to login is well worth it compared to pleading for a GM to restore what was lost.
Even though I am in Canada the shipping was still rather quick, despite the rush of the holiday season.

Norton scans twice a day on my PC.
The priciest isn't always the best, avast, nod32, even AVG etc is better.
in that same reasoning, linux is better. :)
Waiting for my authenticator to come in the mail. I've been so paranoid lately that I went ahead and got one. I've spent way too much $ for my account to get hacked haha.

Great... Just went to go get my authenticator because it's such a great idea. I guess so many people read this post and thought it was a good idea that they've bought out the entire north american supply. Oh well. Maybe I can secure my account one day too when they make more. For now it's back to pointing a shotgun at my computer while I raid to keep the flying internet monkeys away.

Honestly if they can roll back a account and restore your stuff then theres no need to buy this. Sure you'll feel safe, but then it malfunctions and your stuck contacting billing/acc for 30 minutes to take it off and get a new one. Skip the middle man and just change your password every few months.
Oh and stop puttin **** in the coffee!
So wait, its better to save the six bucks and have blizzard roll back your account if it gets hacked? If the authenticator does happen to malfunction it may take up to 30 minutes to get it resolved? If I change my password every 3-4 months, I am immune to keyloggers? I'm usually the last one to flame but I think the reasoning above does not make sense. I have an authenticator and it works.

Here's the thing: restorations aren't always guaranteed. If you're not keeping your computer secure and your account keeps getting hacked, Blizzard will likely not help you. On top of that, it can take several weeks, sometimes, to get your account back to normal after it's hacked - plus, it's not as simple as rolling everything back. An Authenticator keeps your account secure, so I think it's a pretty good investment.
Second, it is VERY rare for an Authenticator to malfunction. I'm not saying it hasn't happened before, but the chances of it occurring is very rare.
Finally, changing your password every few months is not enough. You gotta do a lot more than that to keep hackers from getting into your account.

Having been hacked twice myself i know the feeling, it sucks.
Since the most recent account breach i've greatly improved security and it worked. However in a year thats seen 5 guild members and a few friends get hacked i was so paranoid about it happening to me i decided to order one, it cost me £13 (British Pounds) which is well worth the money.
Highly recommended.

The mentality that the service provider (Blizzard) is not responsible for data back up, recovery, and security on a turn key product with no transparency is absurd. Blizzards clients each have hundreds if not thousands of hours invested in this product. We as customers have no mechanism for securing our account information. We must rely on Blizzard to do so. Were this financial, or health, or various other types of data Blizzard would be required by law to provide various levels of security and recovery. If in Blizzard cannot adequately secure and protect our accounts with out separate security devices, then it should provide them. Instead they sell us an upgrade to provide what should have been provided all along.
Until we as customers require that Blizzard full support account recovery and require higher levels of account protection they will continue to profit from our concerns for our accounts.

So buying this thing out of fear of my account getting hacked is for the wrong reasons. Like buying anti virus software when I can just do a full restore on my pc. I'm no historian but I think locks were invented because of the fear of theft. Quite frankly if my account did get hacked, it would ruin my day. I guess yahoo.com, microsoft, blizzard and all of those other sites giving warnings of security issues is not enough for someone to be pro-active about theft prevention.
