Isnt the T7 set yellow? I only have the gloves so far from the tanking set but I had a look at what I could have won and saw big yellow pointy shoulders and all sorts.

so what is this madness you speak of?
That looks pretty shiny to me.
I hadn't really thought about it, but a lot of the armor does seem a bit dark. But as others have said, it seems Blizz is going for a bit (a very tiny bit) of realism in that the armor we're picking up is what the enemy is wearing.
However, T7 seems to be fairly Light-inspired. Now I can't wait to pick it up, heh.

I don't really see a problem with dark armor. It would be nice, however, for Blizzard to provide an armor augmentation tool, similar to the barber shop, but more like a blacksmith provided service.
Just a thought <shrug>... and a couple more gigs of game data.

and there were no Draenei up until WoW appeared
yes there was, right from introduction of the burning legion in fact. Though they were orginally called Eredar (Archimonde & Kil'Jaeden ring any bells? well guess what they were orginally....)
Lore-wise, yes
Game-wise, Draenei appeared in Frozen Throne.

I refuse to count T7 for 2 reasons:
1) Its not new, just recolored T3.
2)It was Power Ranger-esque back in the day, and deserved to stay a memory of our pre-BC days.

I was so glad when i started getting rid of my "Shiny Bubble Swirly" pvp armor and moved to the darker stuff. It reminds me more of old wow. Especially when the bright and cheery stuff dropped from the outlands. (seriously wtf a place that is half destroyed has all these colorful cheery designs?)

Looking through the models for the WotLK armor pieces, I keep seeing the same 3 or 4 visual designs. What bothers me about this (other than the lack of creativity) is that they all represent a very dark, harsh, realistic aesthetic.
While I know the landscape of Northrend is a barren, harsh one, as a Paladin the armor makes no sense. From a lore stand-point, Paladins are supposed to be the bearers of the light in dark places. They bring hope to their allies, and fear to their enemies. However the armor of Northrend does not evoke the Light, or hope in any way. Its just dark, and foreboding.
Any thoughts?
Alright... so you want the Mobs in Northrend, a
harsh
and
desolate
place, to drop shiny and flashy Armor that'll fit for a
Paladin
? If you haven't noticed, Blizzard is trying to make this as realistic as possible, and for a harsh tundra such as the Borean Tundra or Storm Peaks to drop a piece of shining metal like a Paladin Chest, it would just be stupid.
Like, when you kill a boss, it drops alot of Items, am I right? Sometimes, it drops a Helmet or something, when the boss doesn't even wear a Helmet. Like... is that even possible? Northrend is a frozen wasteland, and the peoples there don't have time to make flashy armor, then have it drop. They get what they can from the animals and mountains around them, and if they have a forge, even better...
I've lost my point...

But you also have to think T7 isn't new. It's the crappy looks of old AQ gear. How does Blizzard make a new expansion but don't have the common sense to make new armor art? It's very cheap and unsatisfactory.
