almost like Haris Pilton in shatt,
Not quite.
Haris Pilton would be a parody, or a comical reference, whereas Christianity is not implied in any way or form, it's just that people often relate "holy" with Christianity due to it being one of the largest religions.

The fact is, that a "crusade" can be waged for or against anything and by any group or religion.
Good point. Perfect example: "Burning
Crusade
" was waged to destroy everything by the the demonic armies of the Burning Legion... a far cry from Christianity anything.

Guys...Please,Don't fabricate facts to support your own conclusions.
A cathedral (Lat. cathedra, "seat") is a Christian church that contains the seat of a bishop. It is a religious building for worship, specifically of a denomination with an episcopal hierarchy, such as the Roman Catholic, Anglican, Orthodox and some Lutheran churches, which serves as a bishop's seat, and thus as the central church of a diocese.

2) shamans were considered much more powerfull (totems vs blessings), overpowered in pvp.
I laughed on that one. OP in PvP hahahaha.
Shamans are just above Warlocks in PvP right now, and that is sad.

And on the side note wOw takes place in its own fantasy universe. Why should you directly link something that looks like a church to be place of christianity. In one of the MtG expansions the priests and tenders of the dead were more a banking caste in the world, and churches were places of intrigue, money and corruption...

Okay, I won't fabricate facts (not that I have previously). You're absolutely correct that what you state is a correct meaning of the word "cathedral".
Where you're incorrect is that it's the
only
meaning.
From
Dictionary.com
, which is based on various and sundry dictionaries and encyclopedias:
Noun
1. the principal church of a diocese, containing the bishop's throne
2. (in nonepiscopal denominations) any of various important churches
3. A large, important church.
4. Something that resembles a cathedral, as in grandeur or authority
Adjective
1. pertaining to or containing a bishop's throne
2. pertaining to or emanating from a chair of office or authority
3. of, relating to, or resembling a cathedral
Now, I grant you that the majority of the definitions on that page relate to (most specifically) the Catholic faith. However, I would feel safe in assuming that, if you were to ask the layman to define a cathedral, that definition would be something along the lines of, "A really big church."*
And, based on that, I also feel safe in proposing that Blizzard based the names of the in-game "cathedrals" on that definition, and not as some veiled plug for the Holy Mother Church.
Back to your original question, regarding Paladins: Regardless of the original meaning of the word, in the context of fantasy games (whether tabletop RPGs or online games such as WoW) a Paladin is "a holy knight, crusading in the name of good and order, and is a divine spellcaster. Paladins are always of the Lawful Good alignment." (
Wikipedia - Paladin (Dungeons and Dragons)
So a Paladin is a knight who draws his powers from the divine. And while "the divine" relates to a god, in fantasy terms that god is generally
not
the Judeo-Christian God.
*While I understand it is far from scientific, I took a quick poll of 15 co-workers, and simply asked them, "Without looking it up in a reference, how would you define 'cathedral'?" Two of my co-workers (who happen to be either Catholic or an amateur religious scholar) came up with your definition; the rest answered along the lines of, "A big, ornate church."

So it's devolved into a wikipedia fight.
Now, can't we close this often reoccurring argument by simply stating the obvious?
Any word describing a concept in this world, might be used in fiction for a wholly different thing.
Any fantasy worlds' paladins do not, in any way, need to correlate to our world's historic, ethnical or religious concept.
Therefore, it is silly to argue that paladins in a fictional universe must be medieval christian warriors just because that's their description in our world.
Grow up.

Christian cross?
I suppose you've never heard of crucification or an ankh.
Blizzard cannot have christianity in their game, that would be promoting a religion, thereby indirectically discriminating against every other religion.
I'm a Christian, and have never viewed paladins as being christianic, and to all the people that do, I have to say, you're overcomplicating things by applying your own ideals on it.

Correct link would be

Cathedral, if you've bothered to read the full text, contains articles only pertaining to christian cathedrals.

As an example....At the spell animation of the "Hand of freedom" you can clearly see the alpha and omega symbols.
Alpha and omega are the main symbol of God in the bible and i don't have time for you to give a link...Just search for Alpha and Omega and any wiki.
