The problem with words like 'scrub' all have to do with individual perception, as the connotation of a word for one person will often be different for another. Also, they're often in completely different contexts, because lets face it, its rare to be on the same wavelength with a stranger in-game. For example, here are some of my definitions:
Noob
: Someone genuinely new to the game.
Usage
: "Hey, help me out? I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do, I'm a noob here." or perhaps "Hey, can you invite my friend to the guild? He's a noob but he's bright and a fast learner."
More Common Usage
: "LOL Noob L2Play" (incidently, saying L2-anything is easily the most annoying MMO term ever. People who say this are immediately dismissed into the 'jerk' category of my mind.) People call each other noobs all the time, out of the context it has in my mind. Oh well, I can't control them.
Scrub
: To me, this is calling someone a bad player, and the word has a heavy negative connotation to me. Calling someone this implies you feel vastly superior, and its very condescending. This will also earn you a jerk tag from me, but of course, you don't care, because you feel vastly superior.
Common Usage
: I've seen this term used to describe every kind of player, sometimes in a friendly mocking sense all the way to straight-badmouthing. I've also seen it used to describe the people one PUG'ed an instance/raid with as a shorthand. Personally, I prefer the word 'jobber' because it seems most people don't get the implied insult until I'm safely doing something else.
To switch gears, /tell is way older than EQ. I was using /tell in the 80's playing MUDs on Telnet. =)

Most people don't recognize this and i usually dont say anything, but whats wrong with this sentence:
lvl ? (class) LF group for (some instance), PST me!
someone explain PST me lol PST is Please Send Tell, right? so youre saying Please Send Tell Me? wouldnt you just leave the me out, or does everyone see it differently? idk, bored and just thought of this, ive been meaning to ask, but i dont know how to ask this on trade without looking like an idiot lol
Does it really matter? Pretend you're a 30-year old living in your parents basement, and only know the 1337 L4nguuage of teh Computerz.
Makes life easier

Actually the term "noob" (usually used as an offensive word) defines a player that, after a considerable amount of time playing a game, haven't learned/catched the game mechanics. Now, a different denomination is "newbie", that is used to name playes that actually are "new" to the game, and therefore knows less/nothing about it (commonly used in a friendly/comprehensive way). People just tend to mix both terms, or are unaware of the difference.
On topic, what annoys me most:
"CAN I HAS SUM GOLDZ PLX?11"
I think you're being too limiting, I call myself a noob at wow and I am no noob to the internets. I think the words are far more interchangeable than you're allowing.
