I'm not going to mention that a build is effective in battlegrounds, as pretty much any build should be. The arena is the best venue to determine the validity of any build, and is a kind of litmus test for any one build's strength.
I'm not going to mention builds with fifty-six points in subtlety either, there's no reason to sink that many points into one tree.

Yes. 10% extra damage on your sinister strike and nothing dodging your finishers is superb.

You should be using backstab as your main attack with a combat daggers build.

This thread is getting out of control :D It's turning into a debate about talents... let the poor guy finish his guide, and don't use it as a venue to ask his opinion on certain specs and talent choices! LOL
If you're the over-analytical type on builds, check out this link to hold you over until Remx's guide is done.

especially this part from it:

ps-
rogue= an assassin
rouge= like sandpaper, only it's an H instead of an E
Just read the forum title if in doubt of your spelling :D

I know I said the next update would be done by the end of last week, but with a couple birthdays and a number of other events on the horizon, plus a raid schedule I now try to attend whenever I'm not working, things are a little hectic at the moment. I've not forgotten the guide, I'm just taking my time with it while I focus on more pressing issues. The updates
are
coming, I promise!

And we thank you for it! Excellent job so far, and it's good to hear that you do have a life :D Keep up the good work; I'm eager for the same quality that you have delivered thus far, so thank you for taking the time to keep it good.
Again, a big thanks for all the effort Remx.

First of all, this was an incredibly helpful and interesting view on the rogue class. Thank you.
I do have one question though. My main is currently a 67 NE rogue with a combat swords spec. I had thought that riposte was a very worthwhile talent in the combat tree. If you could explain your reasoning in forgoing riposte in any of your builds I would be interested. I'm not saying you're wrong... I'm the one who has yet to reach 70. Thanks again for all the help.

I think the general answer is probably something along the lines of:
If you're raiding, you shouldn't be parrying any attacks: you shouldn't be taking aggro. Therefore you won't be using Riposte.
Could be good for pvp, but again, limited to melee combat. But also, how often will you disarm someone in pvp? They'll probably be disarm immune with a keeper chain.
Are you using it for leveling against mobs mostly?

First, a thank you to razzem and Robju. That helped me make my decision. I plan to keep riposte as it has had it's uses to me so far in PvP and I do plan to stay in BG's once I hit 70 at least until I get some Season 1 gear for the arenas and high end raids. At that point I'll consider dropping riposte. Thanks again!
