Just take all the rogue stuff :P
I'm still QQing about loosing my assissnation shoulders (dungeon set 3 for rogues, with rogue ability set bonuses) to a feral druid. I don't know if it's just me, but I do not get why he would want something with rogue set bonuses - keep in mind, he had more than one piece.
The Assassination shoulders are some of the best blue feral tanking shoulders in the game. As a Druid, I always warn rogues that I'll be rolling on them before we enter Sethekk Halls. If they want to stick around it's fine.

What I ended up using before I respecced to healbot. Almost the same as previously suggested, just with natural shapeshifter instead of primal tenacity.
(PS. May I suggest that you take INV_Misc_Food_63 as your avatar, Chickensoup?)

That was my build from level 1 to level 70. The only times I respecced was at 58 (I got Ramparts-group!) and at 70 'cause we needed a healer in Kara. other than those two times, I've been feral all the time.
Feral-Druid is -the- way to go.

I am currently using a feral build to level my Drood. I am using this point by point guide to level.

No more wondering which point to spend when. It also gives you an idea of how to set up a good attack combo per level per skill.

With a Feral spec at 30 and a good heal set, you can still effectively heal. You will not have all of the bonus to healing that you would from Resto, but again, you can still effectively heal all the way into outland.

Leveling as balance is amazingly easy and fun. And because many of the talents are mana/+healing based.. you can easily heal a 5man while leveling
The secret is to NOT using entangling roots and spells non-stop.
Starfire
Wraith
Moonfire
Insect swarm
Melee
Then melee and let thorns, moonfire, and IS ticks finish off the thing. It really faster than it seems, and you'll be regening mana early.
In Moonkin form, you have awesome armor. I end most 'green' fights at about 95% health and 100% mana when I do it that way. Stick to INT and STM gear and you'll have a huge mana and HP pool

I would suggest NOT using moonfire, as it's very mana inefficient. If I wsa leveling balance, I would focus on using starfire as my opener, then once more before the mob gets to me. If it's a ranged mob or caster just spam starfire (maybe put up insect swarm), if not, then either nature's grasp or roots at this point, back up and starfire again.
Alternately, spam wrath (with celestial focus). It's not as mana efficient as starfire, but if you count the anti-pushback, you can save mana on roots and just spell it down.
I would also recommend putting insect swarm up after your 2nd starfire.
Once it gets low (and if you have moonkin form), just melee it down with IS and thorns up. That'll help your mana regen.
Brambles is a really good talent for leveling, your roots will be a source of damage, not just CC, and your thorns will actually take off a % or 2 of the mob's health each hit.
------
That said, I think feral is still a very good choice. It gives you tanking ability before moonkin form, which is really good for a lot of mobs, and you don't use your mana to DPS. The advantages of balance are ranged damage and being able to damage and heal in the same form.
