Not to be all stereotypical, but I'm never going to forget the guy that came in one night to buy a time card when I worked at a local Gamestop. He was wearing the Molten Core LF39M shirt and plaid boxer-style shorts with obligatory dandruff on his shoulders, and was coming in at like 8:58 to buy a WoW time card and pay with a check. I understand why some people are afraid to admit that they play WoW.

I know a few people who play WoW, and they're all hygienic. ;D

I stood in line at Fry's near Seattle. I showed up at 11:58 expecting a line of maybe 10 or 15 people, I'd never gone to a midnight opening before.
I was horribly wrong, the line wrapped all the way out the door, down the side, and around the back (this is really saying something, have you ever seen a Fry's? I'm probably exaggerating, but there was at least 300 people there, probably more.). It blew my mind how many people were willing to stand in the rain at midnight on a Wednesday to get a video game.
Anyways, more to the point, they (with a few obligatory exceptions) all looked like everyday normal people, it was relieving, the looks I'd gotten earlier from my friends when I told them where I was going at 11:30 at night were more-than-a-little shame-inducing.
As for those obligatory exceptions, I couldn't agree more with the comment about the guy who gets his receipt and spends the next 3 minutes staring at the box slack-jawed like he just discovered the holy grail. There were quite a few of those to dodge as I (and the rest of the back-of-the-line group) got our copies.

I remember going into a gamestop and buying a time card once, and two of the workers there were talking about WoW and where this guy should level and what stuff he should pick up. He was short, almost bald, wore glasses (the big weird kind), and pretty plump. The other person was tall, lean, had a decent tan, and looked like any normal person would. I think its rather enjoyable to see the diversity of players in WoW and how they act as if there is no real social standard (elitists jerks excluded). Then they started talking to me and I ran for the door. I don't talk much about WoW outside of the computer.
Thats my story!

I always get the "omg a chick who plays WoW" look when I go to by my time cards. The gamestore guys need to get out more I think.
Having said that, I didn't go to any midnight launch to get my copy. I will be a bum and wait for it to land under my Christmas tree.
