It's been tested. Beta has come and gone over the past many months and I can promise you all tanking druids will say that it is a must-have for any tanking build. It's a tremendous damage mitigation talent, and isn't that really what being an effective tank is about? Don't spec based around what other classes MIGHT bring to the raid, such as DPS kittys will IF or a warrior using TC. IF isn't really that high on a Kitty DPS spec tree in terms of priorities, and any DPS warrior will not be wasting his rage on TCing for the tank. And if you go tanking with Death Frost instead of Mongoose, then you sir, are beyond help and should probably just roll a ret pally or rogue.
I am BAFFLED as to why people doubt the usefulness of this talent, both now and at 80.

Did I say that it wasn't useful? Nope, I didn't, that wasn't the purpose of my post.
You realize that dps can use Death Frost right? That's something to consider.
Thinking about what other people bring to the raid makes the raid efficient. Not thinking about it means that you pug a lot, which is possible, or you just don't care if you are wasting talent points. It depends on how you are raiding.
Also, I certainly hope that they upgrade some new enchants, because last time I checked, I didn't see a "+35 AGI" upgrade for wotlk enchants. Maybe I missed it, but seems like the enchants for Druid tanking are less than stellar at this point.
Finally, not all bosses do physical attacks, right? And even the ones that do, not all physical attacks are equal in potency.
All I'm saying is that there are other things to think about. For a tank build, I can't see any other place to put points aside from IW, but with Blizzards new shift to tanks being participants in dps, and Blue comments to suggest that if a tank can't pull dps in some encounters, the raid will fail, there might well be reason to put points in KotJ or MSS instead. So no, I don't think it's set in stone as a *must have* yet.

I'm curious if anyone knows whether or not level 70 enchants will have diminishing return proc rates and scaling, like the level 60 stuff does. Any help will be appreciated.
edit:
I see upgraded lvl 80 versions of savagery, but no "+45 AGI" OR MONGOOSE enchants, which is why I'm asking.

I'm still curious about IW. Comparing it to TC, for instance, it only affects one target, you have to hit with Mangle or Maul to proc it, and you need to do that 2x for it to stack to full potential. Seems to me that Warriors definately trump us for AoE effect on this "slow attack speed bonus"... Attack Speed reduction on unlimited targets vs our one (or 2 for Maul glyph). I love playing with IW, but the fact that Swipe doesn't trigger at least the Attack Speed part of IW makes it less than stellar when comparing it to TC for AoE.
I still think Death Frost is something worth discussing (and yes, I understand that AGI is key for bears), but at least that could proc on every target for swipe for AoE tanking, and it affects casting speed as well as melee speed, saving 3 talent points for more damage/threat increasing talents.
Another thing that is somewhat lame is that IW works against Natural Reaction, in that increasing our dodge is important, but then taking a talent that makes us use dodge even less, and lose efficiency on our dodge -> rage talent. Is anyone else seeing this, or is this just me?
ps- Tooltips changed when level caps increased from 60 -> 70. I'm asking if anyone has knowledge of Blizzard releasing any statements about current enchants, not your opinion on how things are phrased in tooltips now before Wrath is even released.

This thread is getting way too heated...
For me, it's simple; I've wanted a snare ever since I started playing my druid. Now I have one; nothing will make me give it up! Reducing my incoming damage from auto-attacks by 20% (not counting parry haste) is an incredibly awesome cherry on top.
Another thing that is somewhat lame is that IW works against Natural Reaction
This is a very good counter argument. However, against raid mobs and especially bosses, I have never really had a problem with rage (I run with 0/3 Natural Reaction at the moment), but my healers are no doubt enjoying the added mitigation offered by my Infected Wounds.
Relaaaaax.

Yes.
I don't understand why someone would get this as a Cat unless they intended it for PvP, or had points to burn though.

I intend to pick it up for soloing in cat form in WotLK. Should be pretty useful.

You do realize that Natural Reaction gives you 6% dodge...right? You probably have tons of rage because every swing a boss takes is smacking you in your oafish brain.
Ooh, somebody used a dictionary! I think that deserves a lolly.
I don't use Natural Reaction because,
at the moment
(this is where you should've paid more attention, you brainless ninny), everything has been nerfed so far into the ground that it just isn't necessary.
Go troll somebody else, and try to keep in your pea brain that all we can do when we're 10 talent points short in the 3.0.3 trees is compare talent values and work in tradeoffs.
Take your wittle self back to the official fourms.
