I would recommend considering a mage. They are weak in 1v1 encounters but are very very strong in group PvP. If you like BGs then mages, especially frost mages, just rock. They have good CC, the slow debuff from frost spells will terrorize all those warriors and rogues (and there are a lot of them), plus you have some of the best aoe in the game.
Another consideration is that mages are desired in instances. So if you like to PvE once in a while then a mage will afford you that opportunity. I have a 70 rogue (combat/maces) and he is the opposite. Great in 1v1 PvP, mediocre in BGs and unwanted in instances.
I prefer the mage.

About that mage "weakness" in 1v1:
there's only demo warlocks who really OP for mage... still you can beat them if you do your best...
any other class is a skill vs skill fight
