What's the general etiquette rule for blue recipe drops in instances?

Ok, while leveling the general rule for BoE blues is usually "everyone greed" because the only wise thing to do is sell the blues to twinks on the Ah for piles of gold.
However, when you're at level 70, what's the general rule for blue recipes? I was instancing last night with my girlfriend and we found a pug for Shattered Halls, so we go, and a blue JC recipe drops. I ask if there's any other JCs there, as I don't have that recipe yet, and the 69 priest in our group says "all greed". I respond with "but I'm a JC and could actually really use that recipe" and she just repeated "all greed".
Nobody else was a JC, so I hit need and started heading back to the entrance, girlfriend in tow. Priest hit need as well and won it. Cost her 40% of her group, though.
Were my girlfriend and I in the wrong? Or was this priest out of line?

I don't think I agree.
Yes sometimes people say they need and than vendor, but if you have a JC in group and JC pattern drops, they should be able to take it if they don't have it. And if an axe drops and it's an upgrade, why not?
Money isn't that hard to come by, upgrades are harder.
I always ask if I can need, and I don't think anyone ever refused (it was never a pattern, just some blue gear). no one is really loosing gold by someone taking the item, they are just not getting the additional gold. Normally people don't instance for a chance to get a BoE pattern/weapon. They either need XP or Rep or Quests or BoP items, no one expected to walk away from the instance with a BoE recepie coming in.

Nope, not a JC.
You're right, they probably were waiting for me to hit greed so they could need-ninja it. ****er got it anyway. -_-

Difference is thats BoP
Uhh... he linked a BoE blue.
Skinnable MOBs and mineral nodes are not random drops. The leveling of crafting professions is compensated through sales of crafted items, many of which are available from trainers or vendors.
If you want preferential treatment, get in a guild and do guild runs for your stuff. Crafters
choose
professions that have limitations based in random drops.
Now, if there was some recipe that would grant +50 to current mining skill, or some such, the same rules I set forth in a previous post would apply.
uhh... what?

So I can understand why lots of ppl wanted you to greed it.
And basicly, if anyone in the group thinks you should just greed on it, then I would really greed it and certainly not need on it.
I don't really understand the last part of the starting post.
You left the instance, disbanded the group, ragequited it because the priest wanted you to greed on it?
That is so bad for group morality. And dragging your gf along with it is so sheeply.
Sure one can disagree, that's really normal, but leaving the group for it is just not done.
It's selfish imo.
Only the priest said to greed it. Repeatedly. The others greeded or passed.
One person in the group =/= group concensus, I'm not going to greed because they say so.
Left the group, not disbanded, not sure about "ragequit", as to me the term implies talking crap, nasty behaviour, etc. I decided the group wasn't worth my time if the priest was going to be a loot $%^&*.
My girlfriend agreed with me that crafters should take priority on recipes. No dragging along going on there. As for group morality, I don't particularly care about how a ninja feels about me.
Also, wtf @ people agreeing that "all greed" is acceptable. The only sensible positions are either need-on-things-you-will-use-greed-on-things-you-will-sell or "all need on all BoE blues so that nobody can ninja". All greed is just encouraging last-need ninjas.
