Being a resto shammy and a holy priest, I must say that healing in disc is actually very fun and captivating because you have to be on your toes. Now I'm not saying that's not true in the Holy field, but having to balance out shields and cds, it gets to be a lot of fun. Now I've not had the chance to disc heal in a raid, but I presume it to be even more fun if you can cast a PoM and watch the bubbles appear, lol.

For a spell rotation on tanks, personally I PoM, PW: Shield, then Penance, follow with a Flash if necessary. PoM might not grant rapture but it can crit (surprisingly), and I find it MUCH better than Renew as a "filler spell" for damage smoothing (also now shows up on meters), and also costs less mana.
PoM bouncing counts as raid healing (sorta) without gimping us (I find I rely a lot on Rapture, if a Paladin keeps sniping my heal, I'm definitely going to be seeing a lack of a blue bar).
People look at the threat reduction from Pain Suppression and think it's bad, but tank threat is so through the roof right now they can afford to be smoothed out for a couple seconds (seriously).

Just wanted to contribute to this cool thread. I leveled Discipline, and I've been healing pve and pvp discipline since 3.0 came out, Kara, ZA, and Hyjal ( edit: BT now too). I've been running with glyphs of PW:S and Dispel. Here are some of my findings that may help you all, or may not. I mostly do Main Tank healing, as AoE heals are lacking and Flash Heal is extremely weak.
1. Basic rotation: PW:S, Penance, PoM, Renew (usually just on MT); F.Heal if needed until CDs are up on PW:S, Penance, and PoM. It's important to understand that Discipline healing is very CD dependant, so if you don't like CDs, this probably isn't the healing spec for you (PW:S has 2! 4 seconds before recast on any target at all, and 15 before recast on the same target/weakened soul must be gone).
2. Holy Nova is helpful for AoE damage, but you need people to group up for it to be effective (Hex Lord, for example). It can crit which procs DA as well, which helps. PoM needs to be up at all times for AoE damage too, as it can proc Divine Aegis when it crits, helping deal with with additional raid-wide damage.
3. Glyph of Dispel is incredible in some fights (thinking of Dragonhawk boss in ZA dispelling fire debuffs, but plenty in Hyjal and Co. as well). Part of the problem with discipline is that it lacks +bonus healing. Dispel is a flat heal for
6% total health points
, which is insanely good for a tank. This works when you are dispelling a chill effect, thunderclap, etc. It scales VERY well for healing a tank, unlike Flash, Binding, and G.Heal.
4. Knowing your fights so you can throw out PW:S on dps or casters
before
and aoe is important with the 4 second CD on PW:S.
5. Keeping Grace on the target is my biggest beef with Disc. right now. With the CD on Penance, and sucky +heal bonus for F.Heal, it's hard to keep Grace up. Flash heal should not be under-valued as it does apply Grace to your target, even though it is pretty weak for healing.
Hope that helps :D

I need to test this also, but does anyone know if Divine Aegis will be used up before a PW:S if both of them are on the target at the same time?
Right now, if I see a DA on my target, I wait to make sure it gets used up before casting PW:S, especially since DA doesn't last for very long. Sure would be nice to find out if you could cast PW:S on top of a DA, and the DA would absorb damage first, though, so you can stay on top of the PW:S cooldown.
Anyone know?
ps- I keep toying with the idea of the 4 piece pvp set that reduces the Weakened Soul debuff by 2 seconds... and using it for pve. That sure would change your rotation a lot.

Also, for remembering to use Power Infusion, just bind it to a setting in Clique... like Shift + Right Click. Works great!

That reminds me to add a segment for my experience with Holy Nova. Especially when put in the tank group making them all bunched up, you can both heal and dps.
*Please see 3rd post*

You also have to keep in mind the cost in TIME. Dispel still triggers the Global CD timer. For a tank with 20,000HP, 6% is only 1,200. In the same GCD you could have cast a flashheal, renew, PW:S etc. and healed about 3X more.

Yes, Glyph of Dispel costs some time, but most of the time you're dispelling something nasty, so it's doing 2 things for you with one GCD... removing the debuff, but also healing at the same time. Ideally, Renew is already on your tank and healing, PW:S is on the CD, and I'm simply choosing between recasting PoM or F.Heal. Honeslty, my F.Heal is sucky without Empowered Healing, Spiritual Healing, and Spiritual Guidance. I'd say that the Dispel heal comes somewhat close to how much it heals for. The Dispel heal can crit as well.
All in all, it's player preference and depends on the rotations that you use, but I have found it to be quite handy, myself.
edit: ps- please remind people that the cost for holy nova is down to 25% Base mana (from the old 32% that it used to be), and if you are discipline with 5/5 Mental Agility, it's down to 22.5%... not far off from CoH's 21% cost.

During dispel heavy fights I could see where the glyph could be very useful. But 6% is also a double edged sword. Think about dispelling a mage with only 8k hp healing for 480. Also, in most cases where lots of dispels are used, a Mass dispel is often better. In which case
Gylph of Mass Dispel
would probably be your friend
Personally, I think glyph of dispel leans more towards a PvP talent to remove DoTs.
