Nothing. Blizzard said they might do something with the points, but currently, nothing is implemented.

i think the system is stupid, they need to adjust the AMOUNT of points you get per achievement. Becuase like every thing is a 10 pointer. You shouldn't get the same amount of points for obtaining a tabard as you do for downing Gruul. Am i Right?

Blizzard just re-stated during Blizzcon this weekend that achievement points will only be used for cosmetic enhancements, etc and to show what you have achieved. You won't be getting any Tier 9 epics or anything from achievement points.

Pre tbc was - if your'e skilled you got good gear.
Are you sure you actually played before the Burning Crusade came out? The original PVP system was nothing about how good you were and was almost completely based on how much time you had to play. 40 man raids were not especially difficult in an individual way, more of a team coordination and just trying to have that many people online at once kind of challenge.

Actually, getting the scarlet scrusade tabard was harder than downing Gruul imo. Or at least more work.

Hmm I can see where you're coming from with how the tougher achievements are only worth 10 points
(Oh btw, only 10 achievements out of 931 in WoWHead's database are 50 pts).
For example...
Arathi Basin Victory
gives the same points as
We Had It All Along *cough*
or
Let's Get This Done
.
25 Fish
gives the same points as
And They Would All Go Down Together
.
Granted, I can see how the counting ones (like 25 fish, 100 HKs, etc) will add up points with each level, but still - an achievement for exploring the starting area should not be on a level field as "defeating Anub'arak in Azjol-Nerub on Heroic Difficulty in 2 minutes or less."
Yeah, good thing they're not letting players spend the points on anything practically useful, at least in my opinion.
:)

what do you use achievment points on? or wat r they for
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
It's just a statistic, not a form of currency to purchase things.

Having achievements for killing Gruul and exploring the starting area grant the same amount of points is fine.
There are several reasons for this, being these are only cosmetic rewards in the future and just a way to say "Hey I did this".
Whether they allow you the option to buy certain cosmetic items at certain achievement intervals, ie at 10 points you can buy a pet, at 50 you can buy a mount and at 100 you can buy a tabard (Thus not wasting your points just giving you the option to buy them as you unlock them). Or they could make you spend the points.
Either way this does not devalue the achievements. If one item costs 20 achievement points, and you can only do explore the starting area and kill Gruul, it will still give killing Gruul a greater value because not as many people will have killed him, meaning only people that have killed Gruul will also have this item.
On a larger scale, this will give people that have done more achievements more cosmetic items.
Overall, people shouldn't be complaining at all, now they have given you a way to show off your achievements instead of just saying you have.

If Blizzard do this to help people to gear up in wotlk they fail again. Everything with badges and achievement points are just stupid.
Pre tbc was - if your'e skilled you got good gear.
Now you get it just by playing much. that's just really stupid beacuse they just make ppl screw there lives up more just so they get that epic sword.
And if these so called achievement points is for titles and tabards - it's fine by me
over and out / Vasken - Frostwhisper
There is so much ignorance and bad grammar in that sentence it isn't worth my time to critique it.
On topic: I enjoy the achievement system, it gives me something to do besides spamming 1 and 2 on raid bosses and 2-3 shotting people in pvp. (I have around 2200 points atm). And if you are gonna argue about the purpose of something in a game the same can be said for every aspect of the item-get system.
Also, not every achievement gives 10 and those that give 50 are including the ach. that preceeded them. I.E. why you have 190 ach and 1900 ach points roughly.
