really but I thought that for it to make a sound somthing had to hear it to know that it made a sound becuase then their would be nothing for the tree falling to be heard by so thus there would be no sound
i did a google search of "If a tree felli n the woods". Alot of varying different arguements.

If a man speaks in the forest and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?

It's the same as in space.
There is a sound we just don't have technolegy to detect it yet.
Win.
Lose! You need a median for sound to travel. Hench sound moves faster and longer through a solid then a gas. As space being a void for the most part sound will not travel in any direction if there is no particles to have the soundwaves bounce off.

medium
btw, space has that, it's more spread apart than on planets, but it's there
a particle will keep vibrating until something causes the loss of the engery
this is the transfer of energy, and so, it will keep moving until the sound is "passed on" to another particle
