Long term user = seen more of the core/major elements of the game.
In this contest we had:
*Vanilla WoW item
*Distinguishing item set
*Cairn Bloodhoof, NPC some players won't be familiar with
Long-term user isn't really a member...Just somebody that has seen the game a lot more.

Well, not to call you out or anything but your account is like 4 months old. Why so raged?
People really need to get it through their heads that there are a
lot
more people who use Wowhead (occasionally, or on a day-to-day basis) than there are registered users. There are way more people utilizing the various functions of the site than there are contributing, yes, does that mean they support us any less? They're using the site, spreading the site, sharing the site and ultimately every action (no matter how small) helps the site out. Sure, I'd love for more people to become active, registered users; submitting data uploads, screenshots, making comments, rating/downrating, etc. - but that's not for everyone. Think about the number of sites you may use even on a day-to-day basis but not ever register for. Personally, I can think of at least four sites that I visit daily without having an account. So what if maybe some users didn't find any real reason to register other than participate in the contest. That doesn't mean they just found out about the site today; seriously.
This contest was not one that just 'anybody' could win. ArgentSun has the right idea, IMO, but I'll let Malgayne clarify further when he is available.

Reading over Miyari's response I'm not really sure more is needed. I'm sorry to hear you were disappointed, but I don't want to create a contest that requires you to be a forum poster to win. Otherwise we might as well just send all of the WWI cards to
blademeld
.
