I have learned that as soon as I get on, someone will pst me within 2 seconds to ask me to tank something. Is this a pretty accurate foretelling of what is to come as my pally gets bigger and better (and more well known as being a good tank)? (Not to 70 yet) Not what I like to see first thing in the morning.

You get 2 whole seconds?
But yea, you will get a lot of tanking requests.

As a paladin, you will be asked to tank or heal a lot by random people.
Once people know you're a competent tank, you will get frequent requests.
If you value your privacy, reroll hunter. ;-)

Lol, ironically my first char was a hunter. Then a shadow priest that healed up until outland. I like that I can find a group to dungeon when I want, but I didn't think about the fact that I am going to be asked to tank first thing when I wake up. ;)
Nah, I got tooooo much privacy as a hunter.

Paladins are the new warriors, kek.
It's funny how many times I see requests for a paladin tank for kara or ZA in trade now, a year ago you'd be laughed at.
You know, I haven't ever really cared much for warrior tanks. I have always preferred pally tanks when I was on my hunter or spriest. There are a few exceptions to this rule on my server, I can think of at least 2 warrior tanks that I love (much <3 to Klaerth on Shadow Council).
I made this pally a long time ago and was annoyed with it for the longest time at lower levels. Then with the tank shortage and not being able to do many runs as dps, I decided to pick it up and really run with it. I wasn't sure if I would like the way that dk's are going to tank, but I knew that I loved pally tanks.
I don't mean to qq about people wanting me to tank all of the time, as I love being a prot pally tank, but there's just some times that you really don't want to and I am one of those people that hate to tell people no. :(

You get used to it, and you eventually start telling people "no" anyways

I think the same goes for holy. Once people see that A) You're either Prot or Holy and B) People know your name from PUG's you get constant invites. My Pally is my alt, Kara geared only, I'll hop on to farm ores and get a pst the second I find my first node. My server does have a lack of tanks and healers though. I think 40% of my server is rogues & hunters (look at sig) >.<

Just as an aside: Anyone who says that Pally tanking is easy is full of it. :P "Just spam Consecrate" my plate-padded ass...
I haven't tanked in probably 7 months, but on Saturday for Kara we wound up with 3 healers and no tanks. Over my time as a healer I've collected a fairly decent tank set (502 defense, 103.4% avoidance with Holy Shield, 14k health) so I respecced to tank.
Good grief, the pressure! We only went up through Shade, but that was enough for me. Let me go back to healing, heh.
As a second aside :P I also tanked Coren Direbrew as Prot, DPSed him as Ret, tanked him as Ret, and healed him as Ret. Paladins
are
the uber hybrids.
