TBC is awesome imho, sure i miss the bosses where u had to constantly move etc. but i like the uniqueness, and many other things of TBC, personally i say wotlk is where we're gonna fail...

I would say TBC was a success in the respect it gave us more content to go work with but fell short of making many players happy. How many of you went from frustrating T5 instances to T6 and wanted to cry at how laughably easy it was? How many of you became mad at how easy you could gear a character up with pvp gear and jump into raiding while a solely pve char fell behind really fast? I was extremely mad at coming into hellfire and replacing my T2 chest within three minutes with a blue.
Now, on the other hand I give Blizz credit for attempting to add more complexity to some fights like the tainted cores toss and the Naj spines. If Blizz fixes the one button wonder raiding in wotlk I think we are going to have a blast.

As a confirmed raider in pre-BC and someone who has little interest in the current PvP system, I am of the opinion that BC was not an overall improvement to WoW. The 10/25 man raids destroyed an awful lot of guilds. Making a ninth class available to each faction while reducing the number of raid slots, substantially reduced raid opportunities for many players. In their ongoing attempt to balance the classes for PvP they ruined many classes for PvE. Some of the BC content is very nice. They have managed to bandaid the broken economy by the addition of dailies. I realize that many more people like the new PvP system, so for PvP focused players I assume its considered an improvement. However that "improvement" came at a great cost to raiding.
What I find interesting is that with the introduction of WotLK, we can see that the raiding changes made for BC could have accommodated pre-BC style raiding as well. If the devs can make a 10/25 man raid. The could have made a 25/50 or 20/40 man using the same process. BC could have featured 10, 25, and 40-50man raids had blizzard wished. Similarly WotLK could have some dual content structured for large raids. WotLK is another step in de-emphasizing raiding in favor of PvP. The specs show it, the content shows it, as do the buff changes. Homogenizing the classes is required for PvP but defeats raid specialization.
You can't call BC a failure. After all it has made WoW the most successful MMORP in history. However, it could have been so much more than it is, and in many ways it failed to achieve the promise set by classic WoW.

For some classes raids consisted largely of just buffing and decursing 39 other people for 4 hours.

Maybe ruined
raiding
for some classes, but that's only part of PvE - and not a part that most people, regardless of class, ever actually participate in.

While I suspect that many more people participate in raiding than your post indicates, I agree that I should have said many class/spec combinations and some classes were ruined. I do mean more than just for raiding. Assuming that you refer to more than just leveling the impact of PvP balancing is felt in all aspects of PvE. Its just more obvious in raiding.

I agree with the, "People just like to complain" crowd.
One of my guildees stated it in a very humorous yet vulgar fashion. I wish I could share it here. :P It made me giggle.
Awww Just a little bit? Please?
BC is not a failure. It is still (after almost two years) on the top selling PC games list consistently, along with vanilla wow and the starcraft and warcraft AND diablo II battle chests. This should say something about the staying power of blizzards games. Diablo II has been a best seller for EIGHT years. That's a long freaking time. And Starcraft has been a best seller for 10 years. That's a serious accomplishment. I think we can easily predict that WoW (and its expansions) will continue to be successful for at least another 6 years (probably a hell of a lot more) since thats how long starcraft has lasted and that didn't even get any new content since brood wars.

Do people just like to complain about things?
Yes.
Yeah. I think this is the main point here.
The problem with a lot of WoW players is that a lot of them seem to be extremely bothered by how others choose to play. WoW is such an amazing game, because there is so much to do and so many different ways to do it; not one. Some people need to just shut up and play the game, rather than worry about how everyone else is playing it.

Complaining -> Humans
as
Killing -> Richard
Come on, do you really need another explanation? =P
But yeah, it really is just about the 'good old days'. IMO Blizz has done a great job with it all, considering how many things they have to take into account while designing the game to make it attractive to most people.

Because 1/10th of one percent of ANYTHING will be incredibly vocal loudmouths who claim to hate it because they enjoy the attention, and 1/10th of one percent of 10 million is ten thousand idiots.
