Well, then, could we as a healer community come up with some requirements we may well expect from a group we will join? If you could come up with a list or something. :-)
I sure will heal pugs again if targets are marked and the tank is also the tinies bit interested in the way I like to work.
The biggest problem for me is that tanks/dps think that I´m there only and just to run after their baby steps like a mum. I get kicks from working with discipline, planning pulls and executing the plans. I get very frustrated in situations where the point seems to be to pull as many mobs as possible just for the sake of it, regardless of anybody elses wishes. That is not team work.
Why on earth is healer so often considered just a passive supporter?

I am new to healing, but have met my fair share off asses already. A few things stand out above the others
My name is Kazaroth, not Priest
My mana is low, you no pull
Spamming Rez is a silly idea. I will rez you, starting with the tank, then good players, then you. Deal with it
I can go more than 1 pull without drinking; dont pull 50mobs, but by the same token I can go 3-4 good pulls before mana starts getting low
and the most irritating thing...
To DPS'ers:
When the tank has his hands full, and a loose mob is charging over to kill me, I expect, demand and require you to Taunt/DG/Searing Pain Spam/Blind/HoJ in order that I dont get squished. Also, mages, don't take my Mp5 gear, and I wont take your hit gear. Its win win people!
Qft.
I hate DPS who just stands around and attacks their initial target when something is wailing on me in the background. It happens so much, in fact, that i bound a /rw to my Fade button. the only time i ever have to fade is when my tank is being stupid, and that's not very common. But, 100% of the time, DPS (or even the tank, for that matter) never try to save me.
LANZHOU HAS UR AGGROZ!

Would you sign something like this as minimum requirement for us bothering to heal at all?
1. Tank needs to mark targets and plan the pulls
2. Everyone need to follow the plan
3. DPS must know the healers 1st priority is to keep the tank alive --> so no overaggroing!
4. The group should try to protect the healer
5. When someone says MB, you wait before pull
6. If something goes wrong, there should be no blaming but constructive analysis on what went wrong and a new plan to fix the problem

those 2 will never work in my realm...
This is why we have fade
If you have enough good gear you wont go oom. 6th one just wont work as dps is allways "WTF?" after they take 10k dps from whirlind or something and happen to die
So your answer to the question in my signature is: "Yes, that is the healers job!" ;-)
Anyhow, from now on I will always ask when asked to heal a pug:
1. Will the tank mark?
2. When I say MB will you wait?
I´m levelling a tank also and I consider it my job to plan the pulls beforehand and consider the people in my group.

Nite and Beanee, you have a point! That could be the way to see things. If I change my attitude towards expecting the worst and making a bad group better, that sure is a challenge. :-)
Sometimes it is just hard for me to see what went wrong ´cause I´m looking at the health bars. In the middle of the action I cannot tell who pulled and what. I can say, of course, that DPS pulled aggro, there were too many mobs to fight, I was under constant attack despite fade, nobody waited for my mana etc...
