basically the new viper is awesome, i dont have to lose all that AP for very long (or the imp hawk proc) so my overall DPS is better.
think of it at lvl 70, if you've got decent AP and you normally crit for 1.5-2k then you'd normally get back 700-1000 mana on a good shot or even 300 per reg shot. 10 seconds can easily get you back to full
you basically dont need pots.

The new AotV is not overpowered.
Hunter is a physical damage dealer, not a caster. Yet mana has been limiting us for ages.
Now take a rogue, another physical damage dealer. Rogues don't need to worry about mana as they have energy. Once rogue uses all his energy, his damage is limited until he regens more. Same with hunters now with this change. You run out of mana, you'll spend some time recharging (Switch to Viper) with limited damage. Then you continue.
This change simply makes hunters what they should've been from the beginning, a physical dps class without the disadvantages of casters.

We're going to be changing it so that procs/hits restore a % of your base mana each time you hit, rather than base it off your actual DPS/damage. While the return of mana based on your actual damage numbers do make the ability a lot of fun (at least I thought so!), it has bad scaling issues.
Meh, disappointing. Means we'll still have to keep using AotV all the time (assuming the dmg reduction is gone).
Blizzard came up with an amazing ability. Everyone loved it. Then they'd remove it. "lol, op".
I wonder if I'll see AotH ever again...
