frost shock to keep them in range, earth shock for interruptions. toss down a totem or two, and get close and start swinging.
works for me everytime, although im enhance lol

Yup. Mages are dangerous, but remember that they can't take a hit. I remember when I did some PVP as a shaman, I kept a nice, two-handed weapon with me, just for those magic types. The shield didn't help as much (since most mages don't come at you with those swords), so being able to toss out a lot of damage helped. 'specially if Windfury procced.
As far as being counterspelled, well...if they lock down one school, use another.
And remember that you can heal. Don't wait till you're at like 20, 30% health.

as a ENH i cant even count how many times flameshock has saved the day for me. keeps people from bandaging and in combat. Not to mention the high dps. Ideally, an ELE shammy should be at max range casting but if your target comes in range you are only hurting yourself if you arnt casting a good flameshock on em. (unless they are casting obviously)
