Nah, I said disc is survival spec, as the OP said 2 healing trees. And everyone saying holy is viable in pvp, which it isn't with all the resil going around. 10-15 minute rounds against out last teams will be viable for a holy priest. Dual dps will crush you. I did some holy in pvp, and it sucks. It's ok in bg, but not the greatest since most dps see a priest healing and jump on you.
Also, just for the record, in 5v5, I don't heal much. PoM, PW:S, renew, PS, and a massive amount of dispel and mass dispel spams. Flashes once in a while when a team mate is dropping too fast. We basically zerg strat. Jump a dps quick with dispel spams and heroism, pop aoe fears on healers. Usually I'm the main target because of my mass dispel spams. But it's really successful so far. Just run every buff I can on me, then jump into the fray and hope I get small crits from rogues and hunters to get my focused will up quick so the sham can heal me.

Can someone explain to me just
why
priests are better at healing than any other class? Even if priests do have more ways to heal the raid, I feel the other bonuses and perks brought by the other classes simply outweigh "lots of ways to heal".
Give me blessings/auras/totems/divine shield/bloodlust over Binding Heal any day.
Probably going to get burned saying this in the priest forums, but i don't think priests are
better
at healing than the others, but are definitely on par with them and are one of the easiest classes to heal with(just my opinion). About the buffs though, priests have fortitude and if you laugh at that then you have issues. Also spirit and shadow resist buffs, spirit being great if you have a druid in the raid as well although admittedly only really helpful for other priests(one IDS others COH) or druids, shadow resist situational the same as many other classes secondary buffs and nice in pvp.

As far as buffs go, Primar has it exactly right as far as why some people would argue against stacking priests in a raid. Once you have one IDS priest, all the buffs are covered, bringing more doesn't add anything extra.
As far as healing goes, priests are more versatile than the other healing classes. It's not a matter of being better, it's about being able to fill multiple roles that other classes can't necessarily. Shamans are good at raid healing. Paladins and druids are good at single target healing. Priests can do it all.

Thing is... priests are far superior in healing terms to a paladin, so if not for the blessings you wouldn't bring them. Shamans are pretty decent healers, and have raid stackability, but they're only ever better than a priest where there is a lot of cross-party 3/4 target aoe in a fight (or long periods between aoe).
You'll probably take 5 priests to a raid. Two holy, three shadow. I don't think any other class except shaman will share this kind of representation. So I think stackability of holy is fine.
In terms of the being two specs - it is an issue that other healers can spec decently for pve and pvp together (paladins in particular, with their 41 point pve spec), but who really cares? Gold is abundant now, so respeccing for the weekend arena isn't so bad.

you only need 1 MAYBE 2 shadowpriests in a raid maradin...
any more than that and you are seriously gimping dps

Do shamans have an instant cast, 5 target heal?
All healers excel at their own things.
The same can be said about bringing resto shamans to a raid as priests... At leasts priests bring Fort and Imp DS + shackles. Shamans dont have CC.
Each class excels at their own niche.
Personally, I'm looking forward to WotLK with the HUGE benefits that priests will bring. Increasing healing on a target by 15% and crit chance on heals on that target by 10%? Yeah baby!
Plus, the efficiency will be outstanding.

Pallies are like the old Nintendo. Two buttons, that's it. FoL and Holy Light. Shock, if you got. Bless pre-fight maybe save a repair bill with a DI, ... and er... uh. BOP from time to time. So... ... Yeah. Go Pallies! The old-school Nintendo of healing!

Pallies might be the nintendo of healing, but depending on the situation so is every other class. Most situations the druid is only going to spam lifebloom and rejuvination if in tree form, if hes not in tree, then hes seriously stupid, unless there's more than 1 druid. Shammies have one button in an aoe fight. Chain heal, and not to mention priests use only a few spells in some fights. You won't be expected to use many of your spells in fights like Mag or something. Probably a Heal and PoM.
That depends on your role.
Personally on Mag (regardless of my "assigned duties") I will PoM the Main Tank and renew him. I will renew the OT too.
I will also (downranked) renew any DPS that I feel need it or aren't getting attention for the raid healers.
I will use one of the 3 ranks of Gheal I have keybound or one of the 2 ranks of Flash heals I have to keep my alloted people up as well as keeping an eye on all other healers and tanks.
If I take damage and can spare the time/mana I will cast binding heal, if not I'll renew myself.
I will bubble any casters who are low in HP (lifetapping locks are probably an exception to this, "go get mana pots" I say!)
Plus I will use my Shadowfiend on maggy to get some mana back occasionally.
That seems quite a bit more than "a heal and a PoM" to me!
N.B. Isn't it great how we always get so offtopic?
