But I also thought that crit would come before haste, seeing that when we crit, we get a haste buff =P.Crit is nice but the big problem with it is simply the fact that it costs 22 rating for 1%. That's enough to make it less desirable than other stats.
Also, as long as mana is a problem, crit is indeed better than haste but only because haste is a negative (getting OOM sooner = bad for dps). The order that Kathbrian gave is the right one.
@HereticalFaith : I suppose you are looking at 1% crit as a "1% damage increase + haste" whereas hit would only be a 1% increase ?
That is true of percentages of hit, however item bonuses are bugetted with rating, and hit is almost 50% cheaper (12.6 vs 22). Also, since the spells that miss can't crit, your effective crit chance is diminished the more your chance to miss is high. Finally, the 1 additional spell that lands thanks to 1% hit can be a crit, ie adds more than just the normal damage, whereas crit only adds the normal damage.
Also, having capped hit smoothes out the curve and helps you to control your damage output, compared to having lots of misses at times that can be critical.
