Yeah I leveled for a bit as mutilate and it does take down a mob quicker..... but get an add and it becomes difficult 2 adds and its usually pot or die, whereas combat just pop some CDs and all 3 are dead.
Combat is wayy faster, though mut can be fun and if thats what you want to do, do it. Just know that even though there seems to be an abundance of 1.8 nice MH mut dags all over the outland with few OH swords you will still go faster as combat even with Mace or fist spec.

I will say now, that undoubtedly and and undisputedly, Combat is generally the best.
Assassination is nearly on par with Combat in terms of leveling speed.
lol, the reason combat is "undoubtedly and undisputedly" better is because the difference is large. I lvled from 50-70 as mutilate, but i'm not stupid enough to assert that it's anywhere close to as effective as combat if your goal is quick lvling.

Exactly. Its not as fast. But the point of playing WoW is to enjoy your experience. If lvling slower while having more complex and challenging encounter is fun for you, then mutilate all the way. If you just want to blow through the lvls and get to 70 yesterday, then combat is by far the superior option. As for taking adds, I havent had any problems yet as mutilate. Kill the first mob, then Gouge the add and position yourself while your energy regens. Then just take the add down the same as the first mob. And if you have 2 adds, well... you're a rogue. You have CDs, so use them. And if you're geared at all you'll be at about a 20-25% dodge chance, so that lessens w/e damage is coming at you.
As Souloni pointed out, there arent that many one handed swords come outland. But then again, you're not forced to go daggers either. If you cant get Shadowrend Longblade, then a Foe Reaver + Footman's Longsword will last you a bunch of lvls.
In my experiences, the benefits of these spec while lvling are as follows:
Combat - heavy white damage, ability to take adds easily, fast lvling, and simple use of abilites
Assassination - high poison proc, quickly takes down single mobs, complex ability combos
Combat tends to be a lot simpler, and is very easy to lvl as. A lot of ppl overlook assassination beacuse its far more complex, and theres ability combos that you would never think of doing while lvling combat. Souloni's example of taking down a mob/player is just one of the many many ways you can use assassination.
Simply put, if you know how to use your rogue, assassination can be a viable alternative to combat.

simply put, the OP is contradicting himself in his own post. I'm not sure why you typed all this.

How do i contradict myself...? Quoting feature is useful. If so I'll just correct myself. I assume you're part of these 'trolls' everyone is complaining about however, but anyways...
Quest: Talbuk Mastery x2 (30 Talbuks each)
Quest: Clefthoof Mastery x2 (Yep, 30 Clefthoofs each)
Quest: Windroc Mast-- yeah you get it.
All this culminates with "The Ultimate Bloodsport" quest.
Please do your math next time.
okay, so you for the topic of lvling 58-70 you pick the absolute biggest questline, that happens to be in nagrand, and base off the entire lvling idea off of stuff like that?
Wow, that's some pretty killer logic right there. and I already pointed out your contradiction.
edit: 180 mobs in a quest line makes it sound really good, but in reality, you should be more concerned with the average number of mobs killed per quest line. but I could understand streatching the truth could make it sound better.

In comparison to Combat, you will be tanking every single one of these creatures and bandaging in the middle (Don't forget that talbuks rend you so you can't bandage, and the Windrocs do as well) or eating.
bandage early, bandage often. waiting till you have no health and NEED to bandage is making you susceptible to this kind of thing. this is not a valid 'combat vs mut' argument at all.

Nagrand
Remorseless Attacks
shines as the heavenly savior of Mutilate. You will be killing 180 mobs in one quest chain alone... not to mention the 20-30 ogres of every camp and the misc Draenei. We'll keep it simple.
You're welcome to do your own research, however me doing it is a waste of information on you. Then again...
You seem super intent on hearing my opinion (I mean, with all your trolling statements that conveniently leave out important info I've already provided), you simply provoke me to continue the article. I'll finish it I promise, just be patient Mr. Troll.
You miss the point every time.
but okay, pretty sure I could have disagreed with you on any note and you'd be calling me "Mr. Troll."

OP and that other noob said I was trolling or being a jerk or w/e fails. Seriously. OP just typed a whole load of S***. People will respec seeing that he thinks mutliate is fun to level when it isnt. It is slow and boring. You have to stunlock and be behind the targets 24/7....you really think the mobs going to attack you with its back towards you? If you go combat you get reduced cd timer, blade flurry, adrenaline rush and overall increase of hit and dps. If you want to waste your free respec on this guy then do it, but dont come whining when you made the mistake. And yes I have played mutiliate in arena, raiding and levelling so i know what I am talking about. Most players just want to get 70 fast so they can actually "start" the game. But fine, waste time you could be spending raiding on going mutilate for levelling....
anyone who doesn't agree with him officially a troll. true story.

you "start" the game at lvl 1... things drastically change at 70, true... but lvling is a major part of WoW, since thats what gets you to 70.
Now, I do agree that combat is fastest for lvling and has the best damge output and dps. It gets you to 70 faster. But I'm the kind of guy who likes to take my time through the game, and get into the story. This is an rpg after all, and the ammount of time Blizz put into the quests and the factions and all manner of things in the Warcraft Universe is astounding. Its all about having fun, and playing how you like to play. Each person has a different style, and bashing them for their opintion just because they're different than yours is very immature.
Assassination is different from combat, but if used correctly you can have just as much fun. If this doesnt fit your play style, then stay combat.

I don't think you've been reading what i've been saying. I've already stated that I lvled as 50-70 as mutilate.
What point are you trying to make to me here?
