I don't play for keeps.
I don't play for your soul.
I don't play to win; I don't play for it all.
I play for blood.

1) It's cheap.
Wut.
I LOL'd so hard!
$15 isn't that much, I don't get why its so funny. $180 a year for entertainment is pretty cheap I'd say.
Yeah, I mean at minimum wage you can get the money for a month of gameplay in roughly 2 hours.

The topic has sidetracked into discussing expensive beer and how cheap Wow is.
Anyway I first playing Wow in Spring of '06. Wasnt that big of a deal, only played couple hours a day and had alot of Real Life friends. But then I got my family members hooked and now i currently play nonstop, only make friends with people who play Wow and have high intelligence. And everyone who gets within 10 yards of me or engages in a lengthy conversation with me is all of a sudden playing Wow the next day.
So you could say i play Wow for alot of reasons.

There is so much to do in this game. questing, crafting, grouping, auction house, raids, battlegrounds, arena, guild management etc. I really enjoy leveling alts. most other games have a single goal with an ending. I have tried other mmos to quit and comeback to WOW. Its easy to play but hard to master. Most of all I can sit down and forget the stresses of real life and stress about that lvl ? undead rogue camping my corpse in stv.

It ain't cheap, but that's what people say about bliss. Downing a boss you've been trying for the past month is nothing sort of exhilarating. And the lore is interesting to boot. Being a part of the Warcraft universe is enticing, since you're the star (and 24 of your other friends too....).
In short, I focus more on the PvE aspect, but put a little time aside for PvP.
p.s: This post got delayed for 15 minutes due to a mother cat and her litter playing, got so engrossed I forgot to press the submit button. Guess I'm still kinda human, huh?

I use to play runescape
Ah, Runescape. I started playing that in 4th grade right after Al Kharid opened. I played for a few years then got a bit bored of it. I'm impressed that you managed to play castle wars for 6 years....
My main reason to play WoW is that my friends at other colleges are there, so I can talk to them. Also as much fun as it was being in Goonfleet, I got a bit burnt out on playing EVE Online.

For a fairly low price, I get to meet new people while pretending to hit things with other things.
