This might be good for trash tanking but I wouldn't personally count on it for boss tanking. 15% reduced damage means it's easier on the healers, but it also means that you're regaining 15% less mana through being healed.
Additionally that +40 spell damage is a guaranteed increase in your SoR/SoV damage against the boss, while the Deathfrost only does its damage when it procs. I would bet that if you ran the numbers you'd find that overall you'd do more DPS against a single target with the spell power enchant versus the Deathfrost one.
It's cool to know that it will proc off any attack however; I think you're absolutely right that this could be a viable alternative enchant for trash tanking.

boo to taking less dmg.
I don't know if you were trying to be funny or not but this is true, Paladin tanks should hate it when they don't take damage.
A paladin tank needs to find the balance between getting hit and mitigating. I have trouble with my mana on a lot of heroic bosses but most raid bosses my healers tell me that I am one of the easiest tanks they have ever healed.
Paladins need to take damage that's why we don't stack dodge and parry as much as we do block rating and value.

not entirely true. there are many end game paladins that stack dodge > block because it gives your more pure avoidance where block rating gives you more mitigation, just because you block an attack you still take damage. also, death frost is a very usefull enchant, i can hit 500SD without the +40 sd on my tank without potions or SD enchants while still remaining uncritable and uncrushable.
