DK's will more likely be an additional aoe damage class, rather than an aoe tanking class.

yah i know pallies take aoe tanking but their still not superior it wouldnt suprise me if they nerfed pally's a little. right know warriors are prolly best tanks gainst bosses. palladins can take the multiple mobs. druids can do both but dont excel. dk's bttr 1v1 than pallies but weaker aoe than pallies. druids make up for it with their armour and health.
Sorry buddy, but I have found that on my feral druid I have higher threat generation than either my prot warrior or pally. Haven't been in beta, but I am pretty sure it will be the same compared to DK.
Eh, yeah, 1.5k tps sustained, and spiking as high as 15k tps on omen. I tend to tell people not to worry about salv.

As for dk AoE I don't doubt that it would be possible with all their nice AoE but it would take some avoidance on the dk's part)
A death knight should be able to maintain high mitigation longer than a prot pally- pull with bone shield active, renew bone shield, icebound fortitude, bone shield again, lichborne, bone shield, icebound fortitude, bone shield (if a fight really lasted that long)
That's around 40-50% damage reduction most of the time (you have 25% extra avoidance for a small period) on top of whatever avoidance you already have, yes maybe you have less threat, but I definitely think you'd mitigation much more damage than a prot pally, who is relying on blocks for most of his hits (although against very large quantities of weaker mobs, blocking might be superior)
so that is ur rotation? maybe a unholy DK will be able to live, but how are u generating aggro? auto attacks? from my understanding if u use all the abilites whenever they are up, u will be limited to maybe 1 or 2 other abilities that can generate aggro. therfore you wouldnt be able to hold aggro at all.
You generate aggro with the other 5 runes, lol, one rune every 30 seconds and some runic power every minute is not that much of a cost for having insane survivability

Feral druids have "high threat" abilities - Deathknights do not. We get a 25% threat increase when in frost presence (less than paladins get by putting righteous fury up), other than that we rely entirely on doing high amounts of damage to hold aggro.
Right now, DK threat generation is in a pretty sad state. Even at 61, I'm often unable to hold threat in frost presence against 58-60 Death knights using blood presence, just because of the damage they're able to put out with a heavy blood spec.
I'm hoping we get a few high-threat abilities to make up for that.

If you're hoping to AoE tank... not really. Death and Decay costs 2 unholy runes - that prevents you from using bone armor for 10 seconds. Pestilence costs 1 blood rune, but the only disease you'd be spreading is the D&D disease, since you cant plague strike with no unholy runes - you just spent them on death and decay.
Threat generation and Damage mitigation are big problems on the beta right now - especially for unholy DK's. Too many of our high threat abilities use up runes that prevent us from putting up bone armor, and if we use bone armor first we lose the runes to cast those high threat abilities.
Like I said above, I hope blizz adds some threat-generators that use something like frost runes.
