Eh, I'm fine with this at least people can now level characters in prepatch. I tested the PTR for the first few days and never got a character past level 10 because as soon as it sent you to Orgrimmar your progress ended. Not a great way to get new people to join your MMO. I'd have also been fine with them keeping it as hellish as it was but making it so characters under flight level were immune to ghouls. They definitely didn't want brand new players joining WoW with this going on as it was originally.
I'm all for these changes. 😁👍
why not just give all players an aura or buff or some kind of ability to fight off the zombies, imagine having a button you could hit and it killed/aoe the zombies, on idk a 10 or 20 second cooldown. Then players would have a fighting chance, and could go on the hunt, rather than be hunted. zombies getting annoying in stormwind? blast em..continue on. would help players solo out doing other stuff outside of cities as well, if surrounded, give a fighting chance. also, more healers to heal off the infection. i found that there was never a healer anywhere near when i would get it, and soon as you get it, its like sigh again..death sentence..knowing its hopeless nothing you can do but take the death/rez....over..and over. give quest npcs a aura that repels them, so we arent stuck waiting for npcs to respawn or players being ass and killing em etc. that was also the most annoying part for me, was flying around avoiding the zombies, waiting for a time to swoop in and turn in story quest quick as i could, often 50/50 chance, usually got hit and dismounted, infected..try againthe npc out in 4 corners literally took me 2 hours to finally get, barely, there was players just hovering waiting, it was pretty dumb honestly. The npc would spawn and immediately aggro the zombies, kill a few, die..and take 20 min to respawn. over..and over...how is that even fun? afk waiting for an npc with quest to continue the quest line, with a 10 second or less window to grab it...so much nope. maybe they should of just made certain areas of the city hot spots, where players could get infected, leave the main hubs and areas around say the AH and bank just normal zombies, but near the keep its got zombies that infect you, and people can go there if they want to play around with it, but cant run rampant everywhereGive us a timer on screen, a global timer that says next zombie wave incoming so we know when can be prepared/expect the next wave...nothing more annoying than either A: logging in to empty city not a zombie in sight..or B: logging in and be extremely overrunn and unplayableIf we had a timer or something in game to tell us hey next zombie thing is in 3 hours or whatever. we can at least then prepare or avoid those times or be ready. They could of also just did it in waves, maybe 10 waves that lasted x hours, then when its over, its over. People would have fun defending the cities, maybe even have objectives like defend the keep in SW (where the hot spot is at like i mentioned earlier, the hardest areas) and then everyone who participated get rewards, currency, something out of. Maybe a zone wide buff like when turn in Onyxia head/nefarion head, to buff/help everyone, and maybe bonuses that last after you finish the current waves. achievements for zombies killed? mobs other than zombies? generals (bosses) with stuff? every zone? it would be cool as hell if every zone had bosses or areas to go to where you had to group and kill, you could go zone to zone killing the undead and beating back stuff, clearing a zone could give you a buff or achieve, or cosmetic reward for doing so. think "defender of eastern kingdoms" or something, fight off 10 zones of stuff, get new tabard like from wrath. because how else will we know people were even here, there's no lasting reward, no nothing, other than saying hey i was there...no one will even remember this event in a few years, there's literally no reward no nothing to gain from this event as it is stands. just normal model zombies running around. pretty underwhelming. There's tons and tons of ideas/things that would make/made this far better, this seems like a really half-baked idea, and using nostalgia of wrath event to hype it up, but gameplay wise it fails hard. people are going to remember how much this event sucked, and was terrible than they are how good it was. and thats a developer failure.
I love these changes, having the option to opt out of this madness is all that I've asked for. Having options is never bad
If you need a free ticket to grief players who have no real way of fighting back in order to enjoy an event, maybe you're the problem?
Hopefully it ramps up and gets to be as crazy as it was in wrath. If it's like this the whole time then it may as well be labeled a dead event. Legion's literally had dreadlords rampaging in SW/Org, and you just had do deal with it. Should have it chaotic like that for at least the last week or so
Good, it needs to be changed in some way. The people complaining that this is being nerfed need to put themselves in the shoes of new and low-level players. If this were to play out anything at all like the original Wrath event, anyone who isn't max level, raid-geared, or even desires to fight zombies in the first place may as well not bother logging into the game until the event is over, and that's ridiculous.
Sad people wont experience the best fun that was Wrath PreEvent with the zombies. Blizzard Basically gutted the best parts of this event.
And just like that...the pre-patch event is ruined. Why, Blizz?I am normally WM Off, but requiring WM On for this, crippling zombies, removing the chaos and fun of it, it just ruins everything. ALl y excitement for this event is now gone.
Now if we could just get better transmog rewards than BfA recolors /yuck WHERE IS YOUR SENSE OF HYPE, BLIZZARD?
The completely never-nerfed WotLK prepatch experience wasn't particularly hellish or inconveniencing... at all... And I assure you that, during that time, I was playing both high and low leveled characters and found everything extremely entertaining all around. I consider this a big L for fun. =( It's like they went, "Well, Jimmy obviously will never stop drawing on the walls, so we're taking away your entire kindergarten class' crayons away as a precaution."
I like the exiles thing, but really hate the weak ghouls :( This event was supposed to be about chaos, dont ruin it, please :(
So I'm not sure if anyone remembers, but during WOTLK prepatch there was a vocal group of people that did not like the intrusive nature of the event. Then without warning the zombies and disease were gone and there were a few weeks of really nothing new going on. Blizzard said it was intentional, but the utter lack of anything going on besides the scourge invasion points made it clear that the zombies were supposed to have a bigger role. It was several weeks of nothing going on not just a few days. I have a feeling this will repeat itself and people will complain, but because they got away with it once they will say nothing has changed from the first time and it was just fine... even though it wasn't fine and it was quite boring. There might be a week or two of fun and then it will get quiet again until shadowlands launches. Legion had the best prepatch. And before anyone says anything about how it doesn't have to be entertaining.. Why else play a video game? With the introduction of wm it should be easier to distance yourself from the event. No wm? Immune to the plague and can't be killed by zombies.
