Could Wotlk be the end of PVE?

Honestly, the warcraft universe itself is competitive, it was orcs vs humans afterall, not orcs vs forest bunny rabbits... to say that world of warcraft was meant to be a PvE game is silly, they just failed to develop the PvP content they had meant to, and pushed the game out as it was, and to try keep up with people coming to the game they had to keep making raid dungeons until they could spend time on other things, like Alterac Valley (which wasn't developed fully either, and was converted into the BG that we originally got).
Go back on your Blizzard history. They've
always
been a PvE-centric company. Warcraft 3 was Orcs + Humans + Nelfs vs Burning Legion. It boggles my mind how many times people miss this. Warcraft is not a battle between races, it's a battle for
survival
against outside evils.
WoW was touted at the beginning as a PvE game, and PvP was an afterthought added when the player base asked for it.
To say that WoW should have been a PvP game is as silly as saying that Diablo 2 should have been an MMO. It's a completely different philosophy to build a PvP game over a PvE game. For one, WoW has a vertical gear progression, VERY obvious PvE decision that makes PvP extremely hard to balance. So because people want more and more PvP in WoW, Blizzard has had to split the games up, making arenas and PvP-centric gear.
WoW is by far the best PvE MMO I've played. Blizzard has some fantasically designed dungeons, boss fights and overall epic encounters that are just a delight to get to experience, and I can't wait to see what WolTK has to offer.
No no. WoW started as PvE. It has evolved into two games: PvP and PvE. You cannot do one and hope to do well in the other, of which I do applaud.
IMO: WoW's PvP is still crap compared to other PvP games out there, though at the same time I love PvE play so I might be biased...

The ocean could rise & the sky could fall, too.
So we could get squashed?
Oh noez! Appokolipzeee!1oneonetwo1! =P
But on topic, I seriously doubt that ActiBlizz would be dumb enough to make this game full PvP. You have to remember that the WotLK calculators are based on
early versions
of WotLK, and therefore do not represent the final talents.

shockwave is intended as a talent to help prot warriors grind etc, if i remember right its an AOE ability so think paladin aoe grinding but perhaps smaller scale ;)
tankadins do little dmg but they do it to multiple mobs and being prot they outlast the mobs befoer they beat themselves to death ;) lol

I doubt it would be the "end of PvE", because most of the games content is based off of PvE.
I think the idea is they want more people participating in PvP, not just PvE.
A more accurate statement is that the result of changes made during tBC is forcing people to PvP whether they enjoy it or not. More and more players see the PvP gear available through the BGs as the first step in gearing up for raiding. More and more there is an expectation that if "someone is serious about raiding" they will use PVP epics as "fillers" until they get better gear through raiding.
Market arrogance is an interesting thing. When a company forces their customers to do something, whether directly or indirectly, the consequences can be unexpected and dramatic. If you'll forgive the pun, it will be interesting to see how all this plays out in the first 3-6 months of WotLK.
